Kayla Nicole is officially over being \u201cTravis Kelce\u2019s ex.\u201d That said, if you\u2019re one of her critics telling her to stop talking about their relationship and \u201cget over\u201d it, Kayla has one simple message for you: you first.<\/p>\n

Kayla and Travis dated on and off from 2017 to 2022, and while the media personality hasn\u2019t shied away from mentioning their past relationship in various interviews\u2014even hinting that Travis cheated on her\u2014she\u2019s not thrilled about constantly being referred to in relation to her ex. \u201cPeople will always say, \u2018Get over it,\u2019 which is so interesting,\u201d Kayla said during an appearance on the Second Wind podcast. \u201cAnd to them I\u2019d say, \u2018You too.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Though she didn\u2019t mention Travis specifically, Taylor Swift\u2019s current boyfriend has loomed large over Kayla\u2019s career, which has been both a blessing and a curse. \u201cLife handed me lemons and I made a lemon martini out of it and that upsets people,\u201d she continued, adding that she would not stop talking about her personal experiences just because others think she\u2019s taking advantage. \u201cMy authenticity, my transparency, my story\u2014sharing my story\u2014that really is my superpower,\u201d she said<\/p>\n

Kayla also made clear that she is not responsible for how others continue to tie her to Travis in the press. Earlier this year, when she made her reality TV debut on Special Forces: World\u2019s Toughest Test, she asked the show not to mention Travis, but they didn\u2019t listen. And, during her appearance on Second Wind, she cautioned fans against believing everything they read. \u201cYou sit down and you do an hour-long interview with someone and the headline is maybe a one sentence that you said of, \u2018Yeah, I was heartbroken and devastated because I went through a breakup,\u2019 and that\u2019s the headline,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The world might want to define her as Travis Kelce\u2019s ex, but, Kayla doesn\u2019t see herself that way. \u201cIt is not the story. It is a chapter in my story,\u201d she said, later adding, \u201cOne day, they\u2019re going to have to stop calling me someone\u2019s ex.\u201d<\/p>\n
