Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner believes that she\u2019s \u201cblessed\u201d to be part of Team USA and to represent the\u00a0\u00a0United<\/span><\/a>\u00a0States in the u\u200bpcoming Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n

The nine-time All-Star will be traveling to Europe for the first time since her harrowing detainment saga in Russia back in 2022. Griner \u200bhas now put this traumatic experience behind her, and she\u2019s ready to leave U.S. soil, trusting that everything will be all right.<\/p>\n

According to Griner, this has a lot to do with the current state of her mental health. In a recent interview, th\u200be 6-foot-9 center opened up about how important counseling has been for her throughout this ordeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust having really good people around me, people that understand me, know me and see the signs tha\u200bt I might be wavering,\u201d Griner said, via Marc J. Spears of Andscape. \u201cAnd \u00a0not being scared to seek counseling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI think more people should do it. It\u2019s a resource that is there for us. I feel like everyone should have some\u200bone to talk to. Sometimes it hard to talk to family members and friends because sometimes you feel like there is a bias there.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Griner has already moved on from her scarring 10-month detention in Russia. However, she revealed that she still receives counseling.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you have a counselor, there is no bias,\u201d she said. \u201cThey are there for you to make sure that you\u2019re great. I still use it to this day. Even though I\u2019m in a good place, I still use it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
