A bullet was fired into the office of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid in May 2024, and it came within feet of his desk while he was there working.<\/p>\n
Reid was working late at his office located in the NFL team’s practice facility on May 4 when the bullet was fired, according to\u00a0Kansas City Star<\/em><\/a>. A police report provided to PEOPLE by the Kansas City Police Department said that the incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m.<\/p>\n “When officers arrived they were told by overnight security that someone in the building alerted them to hearing a noise and observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in a window,” a spokesperson for the police department told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n The shot was fired from outside and pierced a window in Reid’s office before landing inside a wall between the bathroom and his office door, according to\u00a0Kansas City Star.\u00a0<\/em>It\u2019s reported that the bullet came within 15 feet of the coach\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n The building was hit by two other rounds during the incident, per\u00a0USA Today<\/em><\/a>. One bullet was found outside in an air conditioning unit, while another “hit the floor above [Reid’s] office.”<\/p>\n “No one was struck, and there were no injuries associated with the incident,” the spokesperson for the police department told PEOPLE. However, the case is being investigated as aggravated assault “because the building was occupied at the time of the bullet coming through the window.”<\/p>\n
