Alex Orji is one of the three leading candidates to take over the QB1 job, along with Jack Tuttle and Davis Warren.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Feldman of The Athletic posted a video of a \u201cfreak\u201d Orji picking up popcorn kernels while pistol squats on a wobbly block. Head coach\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/tag\/jim-harbaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Harbaugh<\/a>\u00a0left the program after nine years to accept the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/los-angeles-chargers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>\u2019 HC vacancy.<\/p>\n<p>Other core players from the 2023 national championship-winning team that were drafted in the NFL include defensive tackle Kris Jenkins (drafted by the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/cincinnati-bengals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>), cornerback Mike Sainristil (Washington Commanders), linebacker Junior Colson (Chargers), running back Blake Corum (Los Angeles Rams) and wide receiver Roman Wilson (<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/pittsburgh-steelers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has not provided a timeline for announcing his quarterback decision. The defending national champions begin their 2024 season on Aug. 31 at home against the Fresno State Bulldogs.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-alex-orji-has-seen-limited-playing-time-in-ncaa\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alex Orji Has Seen Limited Playing Time In NCAA<\/h2>\n<p>Through his first two\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/stats\/_\/id\/4685495\/alex-orji\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seasons\u00a0<\/a>at Michigan, Orji has completed one pass attempt (in 2022) while carrying the ball 21 times. He has rushed for 123 yards and three total touchdowns, displaying his ability to flourish as a dual-threat QB.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy (drafted 10th overall by the Minnesota Vikings) flourished in a game manager role at Michigan.
