Missing Mother and Baby Found Dead in Submerged SUV<\/strong><\/p>\n

After more than a month missing, Whisper Owens and her 8-month-old daughter, Sandra McCarthy, were found dead in their submerged 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer near Oakdale, California, on August 17, 2025. Sonar helped locate the SUV under a bridge at Highway 120 and Victory Avenue.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported both were inside, and it appeared Whisper had tried to shield her daughter. The cause of the crash remains unknown.<\/p>\n

\n

Whisper disappeared on July 15 after visiting Fresno for a doctor\u2019s appointment and family. Her phone was later traced to the canal area. Surveillance had last spotted the SUV near Shaffer and Bellevue Roads.<\/p>\n

\n

Her brother, Richard Owens, shared the family\u2019s heartbreak, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s hard knowing my niece\u2019s siblings will never get to see her grow.\u201d Still, he was grateful the search brought answers: \u201cAt least we won\u2019t spend years wondering.\u201d<\/p>\n

The case remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
