No autopsy was performed and Blackstock was cremated, per the death certificate.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block people-sc-block-image mntl-sc-block-image mntl-sc-block-image--no-theme no-theme figure-landscape figure-high-res\">\n<div class=\"figure-media\">\n<div class=\"img-placeholder\" style=\"padding-bottom: 66.6%;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">A rep for Blackstock\u2019s family confirmed his death in a statement to PEOPLE on the day he died.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">&#8220;It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,&#8221; the statement read. &#8220;Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family&#8217;s privacy during this very difficult time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Married to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/kelly-clarkson\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Clarkson<\/a>, 43, from 2013 to 2020, Blackstock and the singer finalized their divorce in 2022.
