Police have released a new image of Bryan Kohberger, which was taken moments after his arrest in 2022. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 30-year-old is now behind bars after being sentenced to life in prison<\/a> without parole for the murders of four University of Idaho students, Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in November 2022.<\/p>\n

Despite having initially denied the charges, Kohberger<\/a> ended up pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree murder as part of a plea deal. He was also charged with one count of burglary.<\/p>\n

The students were found stabbed in their home in the early hours of the morning, with two of their housemates having been present during the attack and surviving.<\/a><\/p>\n

At his hearing, prosecutors also shared startling evidence of what happened on that night in 2022. <\/a>On December 30, 2022, Kohberger was arrested at his parents\u2019 home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania<\/a>, and Moscow police have released the image of the moment after he was arrested.<\/p>\n

The image, which shows Kohberger dressed in a black hooded sweater and shorts, staring into the camera while sitting down in handcuffs.<\/p>\n

The photo, which was obtained by ABC News<\/a>, occurred just after the criminology student was grabbed while sorting through garbage at his parents\u2019 home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never forget \u2014 my phone dinged and I looked at it and it said, \u2018We got him’.\u201d Moscow Police Chief Anthony Dahlinger said of the moment he’d found out Kohberger had been apprehended.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe next thing on, there was a picture of him in handcuffs from the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being taken into the station, Idaho State Police Lt. Darren Gilbertson, described him as being \u2018expressionless\u2019 during the police interviews.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started with just very general questions about Pullman, about WSU \u2026 he spoke at length about that with us,\u201d Gilbertson said.<\/p>\n

However, he noted that as soon as the killings were brought up, he changed, adding: \u201cAs soon as we mentioned that, then he stopped, and he said, \u2018I don\u2019t want to talk anymore.’<\/p>\n

\u201cWe asked if he was familiar with it, if he knew anything about Moscow, and he said, \u2018No\u2019 \u2026 and stopped right then and said he wanted an attorney.\u201d<\/p>\n

This led him to believe that the police ‘had their guy’.<\/p>\n

Dahlinger described the feeling of ‘relief that washed over in that moment’, as he continued: “So being able to share that information with the community, I can only imagine that many of us in the community felt the same when we knew that we had him.”<\/p>\n

This isn’t the only image of Kohberger that was shared, as court filings also showed that he had allegedly taken a selfie of himself<\/a> at 10:31am – hours after the four students were killed<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
