President Donald Trump has caused a stir after issuing a statement comparing Sydney Sweeney and Taylor Swift.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The internet has gone crazy over the last week after retailer American Eagle (AE) collaborated with\u00a0The White Lotus<\/em><\/a>\u00a0actor Sweeney for its fall 2025 denim collection.<\/p>\n

It’s fair to say that the\u00a0commercial hasn’t gone down well<\/a>\u00a0– and one video shows Sweeney pretending to put a poster of herself donning denim bottoms, with the writing ‘Sydney Sweeney<\/a>\u00a0has great genes’ – with genes then crossed out and jeans written underneath it.<\/p>\n

Many people have since pointed out that the alleged insensitive word play hints at white supremacy. However, American Eagle\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0the ad ‘is and always was about the jeans’.<\/p>\n

Following all the raucous, the 79-year-old POTUS has weighed in on the debate, taking to Truth Social to post his approval – having previously\u00a0heaped praise on the\u00a0Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0star<\/a>\u00a0while speaking with reporters ahead of boarding Air Force One, after hearing she’s a ‘registered Republican’.<\/p>\n

Trump penned: “Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It\u2019s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’ Go get \u2018em Sydney!<\/p>\n

“On the other side of the ledger, Jaguar did a stupid, and seriously WOKE advertisement, THAT IS A TOTAL DISASTER! The CEO just resigned in disgrace, and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad.”<\/p>\n

He’s referencing Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell having stepped down from his role as head of the firm, just months after approving a 30-second commercial to run which didn’t include a car.<\/p>\n

The Republican continued: “Shouldn\u2019t they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company. The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SO FOOLISHLY LOST.<\/p>\n

“Or just look at Woke singer\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can\u2019t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.<\/p>\n

“The tide has seriously turned – Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”<\/p>\n

His comments have not gone down well with people on\u00a0Twitter<\/a>, with many sharing their thoughts.<\/p>\n

One user wrote: “Speaking down so confidently on beautiful women as if he isn\u2019t the ugliest man in america is bold of him.”<\/p>\n

Another added: “I genuinely don\u2019t understand how people are okay with any president speaking like this about women, about citizens of their own country. it\u2019s beyond politics at this point. it\u2019s embarrassing.”<\/p>\n

A third typed: “I’m a little too old to be a Swifter, but I love this girl’s fighting spirit. She bought back all the album rights one by one, and she had to give up her Eras tour earnings to get it.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes I wish I had a little more fighting power. She’s definitely an inspiration to those over 30.”<\/p>\n

But where does the president’s ‘beef’ with Swift stem from?<\/p>\n

During Trump’s presidential campaign last year, he took to Truth Social to post: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”<\/p>\n

It came after the singer urged her fans to use their vote any way they would like, while also informing them she would be voting for Democratic presidential candidate\u00a0Kamala Harris<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Swift’s decision to let her fans know\u00a0her political swaying<\/a>\u00a0came after Trump’s campaign team were duped when they posted a fake AI-generated photo of her saying she was voting for the Republican.<\/p>\n
