Holder reports it was a \u201chip-drop\u201d tackle that brought Ahmed down, a maneuver the <a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/\">NFL<\/a> outlawed last year.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmed was carted off and rushed to the hospital for X-rays. The severity of his injury is unclear at this time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever want to see that happen,\u201d Shane Steichen. \u201cI know we don\u2019t encourage hip-drop tackles. I know Trey\u2019s down in the dumps, and I don\u2019t think he\u2019s trying to do that. We\u2019re just trying to create an edge\u2026Those (backups) are going to have to tackle come preseason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Colts signed Salvon Ahmed to their practice squad in October last year, though he never played a game for them. He was re-signed by the organization in January.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmed was competing for one of the Colts\u2019 backup running back positions behind starter Jonathan Taylor, newcomer Khalil Herbert and rookie DJ Giddens.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: block; margin: 1em auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/USATSI_26749443-1024x654.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\" data-content-name=\"Google News Follow Us\" data-track-content=\"\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ahmed played his first four NFL seasons with <a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/tag\/tua-tagovailoa\/\">Tua Tagovailoa<\/a>\u2019s <a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/\">Miami Dolphins<\/a>.
