As his grandson Knox said, he\u2019s free of pain and smiling down on us from above. He won consecutive national championships as a defensive coordinator at Nebraska in 1970 and 1971. He also masterminded the defense that helped the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/tampa-bay-buccaneers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>\u00a0win a Super Bowl in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Kiffin was a head coach for three years, taking over at NC State in 1986.
