Silvana Torres, 22, was charged with the murder of her daughter, Antonella. The incident, which happened on July 26, 2025, deeply disturbed the neighbors, and police had to intervene to control those who, in their fury, tried to take justice into their own hands.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to media reports, the woman allegedly attacked<\/a> her child with a knife and then attempted to harm herself. Both were taken<\/a> to the University Hospital of Caldas, where the girl’s death was confirmed at 12:15 p.m. due to secondary cardiorespiratory arrest and hypovolemic shock.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Officers from the jurisdiction were able to get to the apartment complex where this situation had been reported, and they found the scene,” explained<\/a> Colonel Dave Anderson Figueroa Castellanos, commander of the Manizales Metropolitan Police.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added<\/a> that “the minor was immediately given medical attention while she still had vital signs, but she later died at the medical center. The mother was arrested at the scene and is recovering from her injuries at a city hospital.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the hospital has had to refute claims circulating on social media that suggested the girl was not treated due to an overwhelmed emergency department. “We are issuing this statement,” the hospital said<\/a>, “because completely misleading information has been published on a social network, alleging that the girl was not attended to at our institution due to the collapse of the emergency hospital network.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Every advanced resuscitation measure was performed, including the placement of intraosseous access and an emergency thoracotomy for direct cardiac massage. The resuscitation and advanced measures were continued by the hospital team, and at 12:15 p.m., the unfortunate death of the minor was declared,” a hospital representative stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Juan Camilo, Antonella’s father, broke his silence and stated that the crime was an act of vengeance. “What she did, she did to hurt me,” he said<\/a>. “My little girl was my life, I loved her with all my heart, and that was her revenge.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He recalled that his relationship with Silvana was stable at first but became full of conflict over time, detailing<\/a>, “I would walk to or from the Sena just to give her money for bus fare and also so she (Silvana) could buy her vitamins during her pregnancy.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Just to be with my daughter, I always went to see her, and every time I traveled to San Sebasti\u00e1n, if we weren’t together, she would say hurtful things to me… She knew the only thing that would kill me in life was my daughter, and she did it.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Magola Valencia, a witness and alleged close friend of Silvana, spoke to news outlets about the motive. “She confessed why she did it; she did it because on Friday she had supposedly broken up with a partner she had,” she said<\/a>. “It wasn’t the girl’s father. He had ended things with her, so in a fit of rage, that’s what she did.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She continued<\/a>, “I’ve known Silvana since she was 14. She was very studious. She was the star student of the school. She wasn’t a troublemaker. The news of what she did made me so sad. The police had to physically restrain people,” an anonymous witness recounted<\/a>. “These people didn’t even know her, yet they were screaming that she was a bad mother. When the girl’s father found out about the attack, he came right away, and as I was leaving, I saw him coming down, crying, and he ran off. He just passed by, quietly crying.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Furthermore, Ruben Ladino, a resident of the apartment above Silvana’s, added<\/a>, “It’s very strange, very weird, I think it’s the work of the devil. I mean, there’s no explanation for it at all.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, psychologist Lady Ram\u00edrez, who was sent to the residential complex to provide emotional support, pointed out<\/a>, “We don’t know what kind of situation a person like that was going through. The tragedy<\/a> sparked a wave of comments on social media, where hundreds of people expressed their grief and outrage. “Poor child. She cared more about a man than her own little girl,” <\/i>said<\/a> a distraught YouTuber over the violent act that took Antonella’s life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Silvana is currently facing a charge<\/a> of aggravated homicide. At her initial hearing, the woman who took her daughter’s life pleaded not guilty, but a judge ordered her to be held in a correctional facility while the legal process moves forward.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
