A congresswoman has been forced to address her son’s recent child abuse charge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Republican<\/a> Lauren Boebert has four sons, the eldest of which, Tyler, has faced numerous felony charges in recent years including identity theft.<\/p>\n

Tyler, now 20, welcomed his first child in 2023, making his politician mother a grandma at the age of 36.<\/p>\n

In his latest run-in with the law, Tyler is facing a misdemeanour charge of child abuse, which he received on July 11.<\/p>\n

The child-abuse charge Tyler faces is criminal negligence, where no death or injury occurred, Westword reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Addressing the matter, Congresswoman Boebert says the charge is a result of ‘miscommunication’.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared with Newsweek, the mom-of-four said<\/a>: “Tyler has been doing a great job getting his life on track as a father and citizen over the past year; unfortunately, this event stems from a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house.”<\/p>\n

Boebert also described it as a ‘one-time incident’ and insisted that there was ‘no injury or physical abuse involved’, as per<\/a> The Independent. The family are said to have met with Child Protective Services.<\/p>\n

The new charge comes at a time when Tyler still has one year left of probation. In October 2024 he admitted to a single charge of attempting to commit identity theft and was given a two-year deferred judgment.<\/p>\n

As part of the deal, Tyler had to do 80 hours of community<\/a> service and was prohibited from using controlled substances. Should he successfully follow through with the terms the felony will be cleared from his record.<\/p>\n

It is unclear if his recent charge will be classed as a breach of his probation.<\/p>\n

Tyler’s criminal<\/a> history dates back to 2022 when he flipped his father’s SUV into a creek bed. A passenger who was in the car at the time suffered multiple injuries.<\/p>\n

He went on to be ticketed for careless driving but the charges went on to be dropped down by prosecutors to a ‘defective vehicle for headlights’ ticket under a plea deal.<\/p>\n

Then in January 2024, Tyler called the cops and alleged that his father Jayson was assaulting him in their Garfield County home in Colorado.<\/p>\n

In June 2024, the elder Boebert pleaded guilty to one count of reckless endangerment and was sentenced to unsupervised probation in exchange for the plea, CBS News reported<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n

Congresswoman Boebert and the father of her kids are no longer married. She filed for divorce in April 2023, and it was finalized six months later.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, in February 2024, Tyler was linked to a string of vehicle trespasses and thefts \u2014 only one of which he pleaded guilty of as a part of a deal.<\/p>\n
