Malcolm-Jamal Warner<\/a>\u00a0has died, a source confirms to PEOPLE. He was 54.<\/p>\n A rep for Warner did not immediately to a request for comment.<\/p>\n The actor played the only son of\u00a0Bill Cosby<\/a>‘s character, Heathcliff Huxtable, in the sitcom from 1984 to 1992.<\/p>\n In 2023, Warner told PEOPLE of the show, “I know I can speak for all the cast when I say\u00a0The Cosby Show<\/em>\u00a0is something that we are all still very proud o<\/a>f.”<\/p>\n “We share a unique experience that keeps us lovingly bonded no matter how much time goes between seeing or hearing from each other.”<\/p>\n Warner did, of course, acknowledge how the show’s legacy had changed given the allegations made against Cosby, 88, who was\u00a0convicted of sexual assault<\/a>\u00a0in 2018 but later\u00a0had the charge overturned<\/a>\u00a0in 2021, only for\u00a0five more women to accuse him of sexual assault<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Regardless of how some people may feel about the show now, I’m still proud of the legacy and having been a part of such an iconic show that had such a profound impact on \u2014 first and foremost, Black culture \u2014 but also American culture,” Warner said.<\/p>\n He and Eddie Griffin led the sitcom\u00a0Malcolm & Eddie\u00a0<\/em>from 1996 to 2000, and Warner was also well known for his role as Alex Reed on\u00a0Reed Between the Lines<\/em>, which he starred in alongside Tracee Ellis Ross from 2011 to 2015.<\/p>\n Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for\u00a0PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter<\/a>\u00a0to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer\u200b\u200b, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.<\/strong><\/p>\nWarner’s career began with his role as Theo Huxtable on\u00a0The Cosby Show<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
