After Coldplay’s Chris Martin made a joke about Astronomer CEO Andy Byron having an affair when he and a woman hid from a concert fan cam, the company launched a formal investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n

Astronomer is looking toward a higher power after CEO\u00a0Andy Byron<\/strong>\u00a0went viral at a\u00a0Coldplay<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0concert.<\/p>\n

In videos\u00a0circulating across social media<\/a>, Byron and an unidentified woman quickly broke away from their close embrace and hid when they were shown on the jumbotron at the band’s Foxborough, Mass., show on July 15, leading frontman\u00a0Chris Martin<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to joke that the pair were “having an affair<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Now, Byron’s employer is addressing the much talked-about moment, saying that its board of directors has “initiated a formal investigation into this matter.”<\/p>\n

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the tech company said in a statement\u00a0shared on LinkedIn<\/a>\u00a0July 18. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”<\/p>\n

The organization went on to shut down speculation that another Astronomer staffer was with Byron and the woman at the event, saying that “no other employees were in the video.”<\/p>\n

“Andy Byron\u00a0has not put out any statement<\/a>,” Astronomer added, “reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.”<\/p>\n

But for what it’s worth, Martin\u00a0feels somewhat guilty<\/a>\u00a0about calling out Byron and the woman. Shortly after the exchange, the singer quipped, “Oh s–t, I hope we didn’t do something bad.”<\/p>\n

And when the camera panned to another man and woman in the audience, Martin\u00a0asked in reference to his earlier onstage gaffe<\/a>,\u00a0“Are you two a legitimate couple?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Elsewhere in the show, Martin slipped up when he\u00a0accidentally thought he was in Canada<\/a>, where he was touring earlier in the month.<\/p>\n

“Oh no, we’re not in Canada,” he told the crowd, after mistakenly shouting out the country. “I’m so sorry. We’re in America, where it’s slightly more complicated.”<\/p>\n

At one point, the 48-year-old even stopped his performance to apologize for the mix-up, joking that famous Boston natives\u00a0Mark Wahlberg<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Matt Damon<\/strong>\u00a0were going to “beat me up.”<\/p>\n

“My geography\u2014for a split second\u2014was way off,” Martin explained with a laugh. “Those guys are ripped. I don’t know if that’s a fight I want to take on.”<\/p>\n

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department\u00a0said in a statement<\/a>\u00a0that an unidentified woman reported a battery case the day after the concert, but noted no arrest or citations have been issued.
