She planned to become a special education teacher, her family said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">To honor her memory, the family announced plans to establish the Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation.
