A brother has recalled the devastation of hearing a voicemail for him and his sister from his father, as he succumbed to the Texas floods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Texas floods<\/a>\u00a0has devastated communities, and resulted in a death toll of at least 109 people, with more than 170 people still missing.<\/p>\n

The floods occurred in the early morning of July 4 after the Guadalupe river overflowed following extensive rainfall in a short amount of time.<\/p>\n

There have been\u00a0many heartbreaking stories that have come out<\/a>\u00a0of this tragedy, including a brother and sister who heard their father\u2019s final message to them after he had likely already passed.<\/p>\n

Speaking to<\/a>\u00a0the New York post, the son said that their 61-year-old father Jeff Ramsey is still missing and believed to be dead after his airstream camper at the HTR RV Park in Kerrville was struck by the rushing water.<\/p>\n

Ramsey\u2019s son, Jake, said his father was staying with his wife Tanya, 46, and the couple\u2019s whippet dog.<\/p>\n

Jake said: \u201cOnce they realized there was nothing they could do, my stepmom was on the phone with her mom while my dad made a call to me and my sister. We were asleep. He left us a message saying he was not going to make it and that he loved us so much, telling us goodbye.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe called me once he realized there was no hope. It was a short voicemail. He just left me a voicemail. He said, \u2018Buddy. I love you so much. It doesn\u2019t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that it was so odd to hear his father sound so fearful and full of panic as he spoke these words.<\/p>\n

He also said that the sound of rushing water could be heard in the voicemail for him and his sister.<\/p>\n

Jake also pointed out that, as well as making sure there was a sweet message for him and his sister, his father also used one of his last moments to protect others.<\/p>\n

He said that he called his wife\u2019s brother and mother at 4.30 am to warn them as they were staying in another cabin about 150 yards up from the river.<\/p>\n

Jake added: \u201cHe rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away. That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
