{"id":30129,"date":"2025-07-06T16:53:45","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T16:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usdailys.com\/?p=30129"},"modified":"2025-07-06T16:53:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-06T16:53:45","slug":"texas-floods-latest-as-sheriff-confirms-59-have-died","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usdailys.com\/?p=30129","title":{"rendered":"Texas floods latest as Sheriff confirms 59 have died"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"main-content-blt72f87a71279e698a\" class=\"content-template_leftColumnInner__Du7BU\">\n<div class=\"content-template_body__RWRhb\">\n<div style=\"display: contents;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\"><strong>At least 59 people have died as a result of the Texas flash floods, the county&#8217;s Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has confirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">As <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/us-news\">America<\/a> enjoyed the Fourth of July celebrations on Friday, hundreds just outside the <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/texas\">Texan<\/a> town of Kerrville were <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/news\/us-news\/texas-flash-floods-24-dead-683753-20250705\">hit by deadly floods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/news\/us-news\/camp-mystic-missing-girls-kerrville-flooding-texas-230907-20250705\">flash flooding has swept through Kerr County in Texas<\/a>, as rescue teams continue to look for survivors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"floating-video-player_container__u4D9_\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The flooding has swept away mobile homes, vehicles and holiday cabins, which were being used by Americans celebrating Independence Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">One month\u2019s worth of heavy rain fell in a matter of hours, leading to the Guadalupe River rising to the dangerous level of 26 feet. Leitha confirmed among the 59 dead, 38 were adults and 21 children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Meanwhile, Patrick added to Fox News: &#8220;We&#8217;re now up to 59. We expect that to go higher sadly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Numbers are expected to change and increase over the coming days as rescue teams continue their search efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Kerrville Mayor Don Herring Junio has also been speaking at the press conference on Sunday, providing an update to the public on the search.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">&#8220;Our goal is to rescue those in peril and find those who are lost,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Our community, our state and the world have been responding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Previously, Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said a disaster of such magnitude was unforeseen, Dalton Rice, city manager for Kerrville, has explained why the Guadalupe River rose so quickly.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-image_articleImage__eyzAn\">\n<div class=\"article-image_imageWrapper__ANtPE\">\n<div class=\"resizable-image_wrapper__LRQlr\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: block; margin: 1em auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.ladbible.com\/resize?type=webp&amp;quality=1&amp;width=3840&amp;fit=contain&amp;gravity=auto&amp;url=https:\/\/images.ladbiblegroup.com\/v3\/assets\/blt949ea8e16e463049\/blt1a2d1f47349c5768\/686a9a84de8fcc47eb9d06f2\/GettyImages-2223000728.jpg\" alt=\"59 people have died (Eric Vryn\/Getty Images)\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" data-nimg=\"fill\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><cite class=\"image-credit_imageCredit__YMlqS\">59 people have died (Eric Vryn\/Getty Images)<\/cite><\/div>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">He told press: &#8220;When you look at the headwaters of the Guadalupe&#8230; there&#8217;s a north and a south fork.
