Still only a few days into the switch, Olson says it hasn\u2019t affected her life much.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\u201cI’m legally Olson McElhenney, but I go by Olson, so I don’t really have to change anything,\u201d she notes. \u201cWe can call each other whatever we want. But I realized that it was just a series of letters and syllables that was smacked together by some government official in the late 1800s, and I thought maybe we can do things a little differently.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also offered an update on their two kids,\u00a0Axel, 14, and Leo, 13<\/a>, who Olson told\u00a0Variety<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in May were \u201creally not happy about<\/a>\u201d the name change. Now that it\u2019s official, Mac says he isn\u2019t pushing them to do the same.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\u201cI said it’s up to them,\u201d he shares. \u201cIt’s their name, and just like their first name, if they decide they want to change it, then they could be called whatever they want.\u201d<\/p>\n
