Bail has reportedly been set for Karmelo Anthony following his involvement in the death of Austin Metcalf last week.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old student admitted to stabbing Metcalf after they got into a fight this past Wednesday and has since been charged with murder.<\/p>\n

According to reports, his bail has been set at a whopping $1 million, but his attorney wants it lowered and argues that the teenager\u2019s actions stemmed from self-defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that my client said it was self-defense. I don\u2019t have any reason to disbelieve that, but I need to develop facts, talk to people, and figure out what\u2019s going on before I make any statements about what I think happened,\u201d Deric Walpole told\u00a0NBC Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t have any reason to think it wasn\u2019t self-defense at this time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Anthony wasted no time fessing up to the crime, insisting he was defending himself after Metcalf\u00a0\u201cput his hands\u201d<\/em>\u00a0on him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not alleged,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he is said to have told the police.\u00a0\u201c I did it.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI was protecting myself,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he\u2019s also quoted as saying.<\/p>\n

Karmelo Anthony fled the scene but did not resist after the authorities caught up to him. According to his arresting officer, he was asked to put his hands up and stated loudly that he was protecting himself while doing so.<\/p>\n

The two teens reportedly got into a scuffle after Austin asked Anthony to leave his team\u2019s tent during a local track meet in Frisco, Texas, on the day. They represented rival high schools, and it appears that no love was lost, given how quickly things turned fatal.<\/p>\n

Metcalf died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter Metcalf.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother\u2019s arms,\u201d their father, Jeff Metcalf, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The 17-year-old football player was pronounced dead at hospital shortly after.<\/p>\n
