The billionaire entrepreneur is once again making headlines \u2014 this time for weighing in on Donald Trump\u2019s recently passed tax bill just days after exiting the administration and distancing himself from Dogecoin.<\/p>\n

In what appears to be a growing rift between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, Musk openly criticized the president\u2019s signature tax and spending bill.<\/p>\n

\n

In a recent post on X, the X owner described the bill as a symptom of deeper dysfunction in Washington.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the tweet shared on June 3, 2025, Musk\u00a0wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I\u2019m sorry, but I just can\u2019t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

In American politics, “pork” refers to\u00a0spending on local projects<\/a>\u00a0meant to benefit lawmakers\u2019 home districts, often used as political favors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Musk, who had backed parts of Trump\u2019s economic agenda and previously vowed to fund primary challenges against Republicans who oppose it,\u00a0added a political warning<\/a>, noting that come November next year, the American people will fire all politicians who have betrayed them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Musk\u2019s remarks came just days after he decided to\u00a0distance himself from Dogecoin<\/a>\u00a0(DOGE), a cryptocurrency he has famously backed in the past, further signaling a shift in his focus toward more politically charged issues. The comments also marked his first public disagreement with the president since leaving the government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The bill in question, officially titled the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, was\u00a0passed in the early morning<\/a>\u00a0hours after weeks of tense negotiations. It squeaked through the House mostly along party lines, with a final vote of 215 in favor to 214 against, highlighting the razor-thin Republican majority.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The drama surrounding its passage\u00a0raised fresh doubts<\/a>\u00a0about the GOP\u2019s ability to unify behind Trump\u2019s legislative agenda, even with control of the chamber by just three seats.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite these doubts, President Trump celebrated the bill\u2019s approval on Truth Social, urging the Senate to pass the bill quickly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to The Guardian, the bill checks off several of Trump\u2019s key campaign promises. It extends tax cuts for individuals and corporations, eliminates clean energy incentives put in place under Joe Biden, and provides tax relief on tips, overtime pay, and car loan interest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The bill also\u00a0rewards parents<\/a>\u00a0who open “Trump accounts” for their kids. They would receive $1,000 while older taxpayers get an expanded deduction, but only for as long as Trump remains in office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The legislation also\u00a0allocates funding to build<\/a>\u00a0a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and adds new staff and facilities to ramp up mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

However, to cover the bill\u2019s costs, the GOP-approved measure slashes funding for safety net programs, including\u00a0introducing new work requirements<\/a>\u00a0and cuts to Medicaid, a federal program that offers healthcare to low-income and disabled Americans. The bill’s cost will also include cuts from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps millions put food on the table.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Experts have, however, warned that these changes could leave many families without access to vital services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Musk, a South African-born tech billionaire, ended his tenure in the Trump administration on May 31, although Trump\u00a0said<\/a>, “he will, always, be with us, helping all the way.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Notably, just a few days before stepping away from DOGE, Musk also voiced concerns about Trump\u2019s economic plans. In an interview with CBS, Musk\u00a0said<\/a>, “I\u2019m disappointed. This bill undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
