A\u00a0BBC<\/a>\u00a0documentary crew have been awarded unprecedented access to the US Coast Guard’s investigation into the\u00a0Titan submersible<\/a>\u00a0that imploded back in June 2023.<\/p>\n All five people on board were tragically killed while on a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to view the\u00a0Titanic<\/a>, after the vessel collapsed in on itself due to the immense pressure of the water.<\/p>\n Alongside Rush, there were four other passengers onboard the submersible – the youngest of which was 19-year-old Suleman Dawood, and he was joined by his dad Shahzada, a 48-year-old British-Pakistani businessman.<\/p>\n British businessman Hamish Harding, aged 58, and 77-year-old former French navy diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, completed the lineup.<\/p>\n Now, in never-before-seen footage obtained by the documentary crew for\u00a0Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster<\/em>\u00a0– which airs on the Discovery Channel in the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday (May 28) – Wendy Rush can be seen monitoring the vessel’s descent when she hears an external noise.<\/p>\n While Wendy waited for confirmation from the team to explain that they had reached the sea bed,\u00a0an external noise<\/a>\u00a0– described by one US Coast Guard official as a ‘door slamming’.<\/p>\n Wendy can be heard asking her fellow members of the communications and tracking team: “What was that bang?”<\/p>\n Tragically, that was the sound of her husband’s vessel imploding with him inside it, but moments later she received a message from the sub – giving her the assumption that everything was OK.<\/p>\n In the\u00a0documentary<\/a>, a narrator explains: “She mistakenly seems to think everything is OK, but in fact it’s taken longer for the message to arrive than the sound of the implosion.
