The first ever US pope in history has been confirmed, but not all Americans are celebrating the momentous occasion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While president\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0was quick to express the ‘honor,’ right-wing political activist and internet personality Laura Loomer shared quite the opposite view.<\/p>\n

On May 8,\u00a0white smoke<\/a>\u00a0billowed out the Sistine Chapel chimney, and along with it came the announcement that Cardinal\u00a0Robert Prevost<\/a>\u00a0had been elected as the 267th pontiff.<\/p>\n

Being born in Chicago, this marked him as the first ever\u00a0American<\/a>\u00a0pope.<\/p>\n

Since, his\u00a0comments on Trump’s<\/a>\u00a0policies from a fair few years back have resurfaced on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0– and Loomer – a controversial figure and self-confessed ‘proud Islamaphobe,’ as\u00a0per<\/a>\u00a0the BBC – didn’t hold back with her scathing remarks.<\/p>\n

Prevost had reposted a tweet which reads: “As Trump & Bukele use Oval to Feds\u2019 illicit deportation of a US resident, once an undoc-ed Salvadorean himself, now-DC Aux +Evelio asks, ‘Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?'”<\/p>\n

The Independent also\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0Prevost resharing a tweet which reads: “There is nothing remotely Christian, American, or morally defensible about a policy that takes children away from their parents and warehouses them in cages. This is being carried out in our name and the shame is on us all.”<\/p>\n

The newly elected pope has also hit out at Trump’s vice president JD Vance, resharing an op-ed from the National Catholic Reporter\u00a0titled<\/a>: “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.”<\/p>\n

Loomer – a vocal Trump supporter whose conspiracy theories include that 9\/11 was an inside job – didn’t hold back.<\/p>\n

Taking to X, formerly\u00a0Twitter<\/a>, she slammed Prevost as an ‘anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, pro-open Borders, and a total Marxist’ – ‘like Pope Francis’.<\/p>\n

“Catholics don\u2019t have anything good to look forward to, she added. “Just another Marxist puppet in the Vatican.”<\/p>\n

In another post, she simply wrote: “WOKE MARXIST POPE.”<\/p>\n

Loomer made headlines last September after reports swirled that she was behind Trump’s decision to fire members of the National Security Council she deemed disloyal\u2014though Trump has denied her involvement.<\/p>\n
