The\u00a0Alabama<\/a>\u00a0football community was hit hard on Sunday morning when news broke that former cornerback Terrance Howard passed away days after getting hit by a vehicle in North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Howard is from Missouri City, Texas, and walked on to the Crimson Tide last season but would not see any game action; and entered the transfer portal this offseason and committed to play at North Carolina Central University in Durham.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Mike Rodak from\u00a0247sports.com<\/a>, \u201cHoward was driving his belongings from Tuscaloosa to Durham, North Carolina, late last month when he was involved in a minor accident on Interstate 85 in North Carolina, his family\u00a0told KPRC-TV<\/a>. When Howard exited his vehicle to check on the other car involved in the accident, he was struck by another vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodak also stated, \u201cHoward suffered brain trauma and was placed on life support, and spent several days in hospitals as his family hoped for his recovery and\u00a0asked for donations<\/a>. His father posted a series of\u00a0Facebook Live videos<\/a>\u00a0Thursday showing Howard\u2019s death in the hospital and alleging mistreatment by the facility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The tragic passing of Howard is the second former Crimson Tide player to lose their life due to a car-related accident this summer. Khyree Jackson and his two former high school teammates were tragically struck by a suspected drunk driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed, taking the lives of all three people in Jackson\u2019s car.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jackson spent two seasons with\u00a0Alabama<\/a>\u00a0in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Oregon last season. There, he turned himself into the Minnesota Vikings\u2019 108th overall pick this past April.<\/p>\n
