Politician\u00a0Nigel Farage<\/a>\u2018s brief appearance during a VE Day tribute was blasted as an \u201cutter disgrace\u201d on Thursday (May 8).<\/p>\n

Last night\u2019s The One Show contained a segment about Dorothea Barron. She\u2019s a former Wren who has\u00a0also recently appeared on GMB<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dorothea, 100, was surprised with a flypast of World War Two aircraft as part of the show\u2019s One Big Thank You.<\/p>\n

The One Show VE Day tribute<\/h3>\n

Viewers saw how Dorothea was taken to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire for what she believed was a tour of the planes. She was also told she would be interviewed about her wartime service.<\/p>\n

Instead, Dorothea was treated to a demonstration from a Lancaster Bomber!<\/p>\n

The piece about Dorothea also contained well wishes and tributes on screen from her great-grandchildren and her local village committee. But viewers were less than impressed when a politician popped up, feeling it was \u201cappallingly bad judgement\u201d to include them.<\/p>\n

Nigel Farage on The One Show<\/h3>\n

The Clacton MP said in the short clip Dorothea is \u201cthe most sprightly and inspiring centenarian you could ever meet\u201d.<\/p>\n

The former I\u2019m A Celebrity contestant, 61, added: \u201cYou\u2019re the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, viewers watching at home didn\u2019t seem to share the same opinion of the politician who was previously criticised for suggesting the West provoked Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u2018What a horrible shock\u2019<\/h3>\n

One watcher took to X to express their unhappiness: \u201c@BBCTheOneShow Why oh why did you have Nigel Farage on your show paying tribute to the little WWII lady morse and semaphore signaller? What a horrible shock. It was enjoyable and touching until then!\u201d<\/p>\n

Appallingly bad judgement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Someone else seethed: \u201cShan\u2019t be watching you again after the way you inserted Farage into the tribute to an incredible veteran. Appallingly bad judgement, or was it intentional?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust saw @BBCTheOneShow video package in which footage of Farage paying tribute to an old veteran was edited into a highly emotive sequence celebrating VE Day,\u201d a third person posted. They went on: \u201cEven given my disgust with BBC News, I\u2019m still a bit shaken at how brazenly the\u00a0BBC<\/a>\u00a0advertises their product.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, a fourth incredulous viewer asked: \u201c@BBCTheOneShow Did you really just include Farage in a tribute to a genuine WWII heroine? My God, who TF is in charge of your editorial decisions? What an utter, utter disgrace you\u2019ve become BBC #VEDay80.\u201d<\/p>\n
