With the 2024\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0season just one month away,\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u00a0owner Jerry Jones is running out of time to bolster a roster that lost much more than it gained this offseason.<\/p>\n

Jones stated back in January that the Dallas Cowboys would be \u201call-in\u201d this offseason. And yet, America\u2019s Team still hasn\u2019t made a single blockbuster trade or free agent signing since the new league year began in March.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys lost top running back Tony Pollard, star offensive linemen Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz, former All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore and pass-rushers Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr.<\/p>\n

Ezekiel Elliott<\/a>, who returned to Dallas after a one-year stint in New England, is the top running back on the Cowboys\u2019 depth chart. But \u201cZeke\u201d is well past his playing prime, and Jones is fooling himself if he thinks the two-time rushing champion can regain his star-like form.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Alex Ballentine recently proposed a blockbuster trade idea that would see Dallas bolster their offense by landing\u00a0Houston Texans<\/a>\u00a0running back Dameon Pierce in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot riding on this Cowboys season, and any move they can make on the margins to improve should be explored.<\/p>\n

Trading for Dameon Pierce could be one such move. The 2022 fourth-round pick averaged 4.3 yards per carry and posted 1,104 yards from scrimmage as a rookie before losing the backfield to Devin Singletary last season.<\/p>\n

The Texans don\u2019t seem to have Pierce in the plans after trading for Joe Mixon, signing Cam Akers and drafting Jawhar Jordan in the sixth round. The Cowboys could make a low-risk move by giving up a Day 3 pick to give him a shot at winning a role in camp.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
