A friend of JD Vance has taken back his invite for a visit to Canada and admitted there is an anti-Trump sentiment in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Canada<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0aren\u2019t exactly on the best terms right now, in case you had missed\u00a0some of the latest political stories\u00a0<\/a>in the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

In short,\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0and his administration have said\u00a0Canada will become the 51st\u00a0<\/a>American state, Canada says \u2018naa, you are alright, buddy\u2019 and the US continues to insist it will.<\/p>\n

On top of this, as part of Trump\u2019s ongoing trade war with multiple nations, including allies,\u00a0Canadians aren\u2019t happy with Trump<\/a>\u2019s imposition of 25 percent tariffs on its exports.<\/p>\n

As you might imagine, all of this hasn\u2019t exactly gone down well in Canada and only a few weeks back stories were emerging of Canadians booing the American national anthem as it was played at\u00a0sporting<\/a>\u00a0events.<\/p>\n

Canadian politicians have also demanded\u00a0more respect from the US<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A friend of\u00a0JD Vance<\/a>, 37-year-old Canadian politician Jamil Jivani, who went to Yale with the vice-president, highlighted the feeling towards Americans right now in Canada.<\/p>\n

The Conservative MP had previously invited Vance to visit his Ontario constituency, but has recently backtracked this offer.<\/p>\n

He explained that it wouldn\u2019t be a \u2018constructive\u2019 time to visit due to the feelings towards the US in the country right now.<\/p>\n

Speaking to<\/a>\u00a0Politico, he said: \u201cRight now we have strong political disagreements, and that\u2019s kind of how it is.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey need to probably reconsider some of their rhetoric and their policy before coming to Canada. Our country should deserve more respect before being able to welcome them.<\/p>\n

Jivani also said that the anti-American sentiment has negatively impacted him as his political opponents used his friendship with Vance against him.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the recently gone April election, he said the whole situation proved to be \u2018frustrating.’<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cThey created commercials about me and JD being friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey doctored pictures of us and dropped them in mailboxes in my riding. The misrepresentation of who I am, what I believe in, the misrepresentation of my commitment to this country, that stuff, was very, very frustrating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jivani also noted he too has taken issue with how US politicians have spoken about Canada in recent months and admitted he and Vance haven\u2019t spoken in a little while.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWe haven\u2019t talked in a while. He\u2019s busy, I\u2019m busy. It\u2019s just the nature of the work that we do.<\/p>\n
