Charles Barkley<\/a>\u00a0says he\u2019s starting to get \u201cconcerned\u201d about his longtime friend\u00a0Bill Belichick<\/a>, days after the football coach\u2019s\u00a0controversial CBS interview<\/a>\u00a0where his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson frequently interrupted the conversation.<\/p>\n Barkley, 62, said he\u2019s \u201cnot sure what\u2019s going on\u201d with Belichick, 73, lately and admitted he\u2019s becoming worried about the\u00a0newly named<\/a>\u00a0University of North Carolina football coach.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure what\u2019s going on,\u201d Barkley said during\u00a0an appearance<\/a>\u00a0on the\u00a0Dan Patrick Show<\/em>\u00a0on Wednesday. \u201cHe\u2019s been a great friend for me for a long time. We\u2019ve been great friends since he coached for the Browns. I think he\u2019s got to be very careful right now. This is starting to be on a very slippery slope. He\u2019s the greatest football coach ever. Him and [former University of Alabama coach] Nick Saban. For college, Nick Saban. For Bill, the NFL.\u201d<\/p>\n Barkley continued: \u201cFrom what I\u2019m hearing, it\u2019s starting to be a very slippery slope. And I never talk about people\u2019s personal relationships \u2014 that\u2019s another rule I got. But, I will admit, I\u2019m a little concerned with some of the stuff that\u2019s going on. I might actually reach out to him to make sure everything\u2019s good, but I am concerned \u00a0from what I\u2019m hearing. It\u2019s not a good look, right, I\u2019ll admit that.\u201d<\/p>\n The TNT Sports personality\u2019s comments on Belichick came after the former New England Patriots released a statement earlier Wednesday saying he \u201cwas surprised\u201d when CBS journalist Tony Dokoupil asked him about his relationship with Hudson and defended his girlfriend, who attended the interview with him and appeared to interrupt every time Dokoupil asked about her.<\/p>\n “She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track,” Belichick said Wednesday. “Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.”<\/p>\n \n In the segment that ultimately aired on CBS, Dokoupil notes that Hudson was \u201ca constant presence\u201d during the interview. The 73-year-old coach\u2019s girlfriend could also be seen sitting in the corner of the room during certain shots and could be heard interjecting.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not talking about this,\u201d Hudson abruptly says after Belichick is asked how the couple first met.<\/p>\n “No?” Dokoupil responded.<\/p>\n “No,” Hudson doubled down from the corner of the room, leading to an awkward moment in the tense interview.<\/p>\n Belichick and Hudson first began dating in 2023, PEOPLE previously\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 the same year the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach divorced from his ex-wife\u00a0Linda Holliday<\/a>\u00a0after 16 years<\/a>\u00a0together.
