Donald Trump is facing ridicule after his rather odd description of what the Declaration of Independence means to him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0recently sat down with\u00a0ABC News\u2019 Terry Moran<\/a>\u00a0and reflected on his first 100 days as President for a lengthy interview, but one moment has got people scratching their heads.<\/p>\n

While Trump used the interview to brag about what he has been doing since returning to the White House, one of his answers to a question left much to be desired.<\/p>\n

During their time together in the White House, Trump showed Moran the Declaration of Independence and his response when asked what it means to him has resulted in ridicule and mockery on\u00a0social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump said: \u201cIt means exactly what it says, it is a declaration, it is a declaration of unity and love, and it means a lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is something very special to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now for the people that didn\u2019t pay close enough attention in\u00a0American History<\/a>\u00a0studies back at\u00a0school<\/a>, this isn\u2019t exactly the best way to describe the Declaration of Independence for one simple reason.<\/p>\n

The declaration is essentially a document formally announcing the separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Colonial super power\u00a0Great Britain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not exactly a moment of peace, more of a middle finger to the Empire and the King wishing to hold dominion over US land.<\/p>\n

People on social media were quick to pick up on this with one person sharing a comedy sketch of Daily Show host Desi Lydic mocking the president for his answer.<\/p>\n

They simply commented on the post: \u201cOMG I’M SCREAMING.\u201d<\/p>\n

With other social media users remarking that the document was far from Trump\u2019s description of \u2018love and unity\u2019<\/p>\n

One\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0user commented: \u201cFounding fathers: \u2018King George is a tyrant! To arms!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cPatrick Henry: \u2018Give me liberty or give me death!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump: \u201cLet\u2019s write a love note.\u201d<\/p>\n

People weren’t really getting on board with Trump’s answer about the Declaration of Independence(ABC News)<\/cite><\/div>\n

Another wrote: \u201cNothing wrong with love unity and respect, except that has nothing to do with the actual declaration of Independence.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a third adding: \u201c[The Declaration of Independence] is like if someone wrote down a list of everything they hated about you and signed it OH BTW ALSO EAT A D***. Go read it.\u201d<\/p>\n

And another commenting: \u201cImagine having the declaration of independence and never having read the declaration of independence. I remember memorizing that bitch in the fifth grade. ‘We hold these truths to be self evident’ mother fkr.
