During the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>‘ visit\u00a0to the White House<\/a><\/span>\u00a0on Monday, President Donald Trump\u00a0claimed<\/a><\/span>\u00a0he tried to help the\u00a0New York Giants<\/a>\u00a0avoid what has come to be viewed by most people in and around the\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0as a serious blunder: Allowing running back\u00a0Saquon Barkley<\/a>\u00a0to sign with the eventual\u00a0Super Bowl<\/a>\u00a0champion Eagles.<\/p>\n

“By the way, I have to tell you something. I was with the Giants, the head coach and some people. And I said, ‘Do anything you have to, but don’t lose Saquon.’ They lost Saquon,”\u00a0Trump said<\/a>. “That was not good. I called that one. That was an easy one to call because he played damn well for the Giants, I can tell you that.”<\/p>\n

The Giants have responded and strongly denied Trump’s claim. A team spokesman\u00a0told Front Office Sports<\/a>\u00a0that “there were no conversations” between the President and the organization regarding the subject of Barkley’s free agency. Pressed again about whether there were any conversations between the sides or if the team had any comment on the Trump’s comment, the spokesman simply responded “No” and referred FOS to his personal Twitter account.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
