The public’s view of Donald Trump’s second term in office as President of the US has been summed up in a poll in three words – and two aren’t pretty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0sworn in<\/a>\u00a0as the 47th President of the\u00a0United States<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year on January 20, the 78-year-old announcing the ‘Golden Age of America’.<\/p>\n

Since then, he’s signed off on\u00a0executive orders<\/a>\u00a0like there’s no tomorrow,\u00a0deported innocent men<\/a>\u00a0and children and started a raging\u00a0tariff<\/a>\u00a0war with countries across the globe.<\/p>\n

It’s certainly been a strong start to his four years in office and a poll by the New York Times and Siena College has revealed what the US really thinks of the president’s second term so far.<\/p>\n

Conducted from April 21 to 4, the college poll\u00a0consisted<\/a>\u00a0of 913 voters.<\/p>\n

Voters were asked to respond to the question: “How well do each of the following words describe Donald Trump’s second term in office so far?”<\/p>\n

Voters were given a selection of words and asked to say whether they described Trump’s second term ‘well’ or ‘very well’.<\/p>\n

And three words – ‘chaotic,’ ‘scary’ and ‘exciting’ – came up with some noticeable results.<\/p>\n

The most popular answer? Well, ‘chaotic’ came in strong with a total of 66 percent of votes.<\/p>\n

‘Scary’ followed quickly after with 59 percent of votes.<\/p>\n

And well, ‘exciting’ had a mere 42 percent.<\/p>\n

The poll isn’t the only one to expose rising anxiety over Trump’s second term in office either.<\/p>\n

A Reuters\/ Ipsos poll\u00a0included<\/a>\u00a04,306 respondents and ran for six days, closing on April 21.<\/p>\n

It revealed Trump’s public approval rating has dropped to the lowest point since he returned to the White House.<\/p>\n

Hours after he was inaugurated, the poll stood at a 47 percent approval rating.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, that number had lowered to 43 percent.<\/p>\n

And as of last week, this had decreased even further to 42 percent.<\/p>\n

The poll also asked voters for their response to specific statements to do with certain executive orders which have been pushed through by Trump.<\/p>\n

Last month, Trump signed off on an executive order\u00a0to change monuments<\/a>\u00a0and ‘restore truth to American history’ – including making changes to the Smithsonian.<\/p>\n

The Reuters\/ Ipsos poll posed a statement to voters about whether the president should be allowed to be in control of institutions such as national museums and theaters – to which 66 percent said no.<\/p>\n

Voters were also posed the statement: “It’s okay for a US president to withhold funding from universities if the president doesn\u2019t agree with how the university is run.”<\/p>\n

The statement saw 57 percent of voters disagree with it – Reuters noting this included one-third of Republicans.<\/p>\n

A total of 59 percent of those polled – ‘including a third of Republicans’ – said the US is ‘losing credibility on the global stage’.<\/p>\n

And well, after Trump was\u00a0slammed for ’embarrassing’ the country<\/a>\u00a0‘on the world stage’ over his attire at Pope Francis’ funeral, it’s not hard to see why the vote fell this way.<\/p>\n
