President Donald Trump met up with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ahead of Pope Francis’ funeral, where the two leaders are said to have put their differences aside and reached an agreement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According\u00a0to<\/a>\u00a0Sky News, the two leaders came face-to-face for the first time since their dramatic showdown at the White House earlier this year.<\/p>\n

According to a source speaking to the outlet, the pair had a ‘very productive discussion’ after travelling to Rome for\u00a0the service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week,\u00a0Trump<\/a>\u00a0claimed that a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia was ‘very close’ and urged\u00a0Zelenskyy<\/a>\u00a0to ‘get it done’.<\/p>\n

“We are very close to a deal, but the man with ‘no cards to play’ should now, finally, GET IT DONE,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this complete and total MESS, that would have never started if I were president!”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on Thursday,\u00a0Trump condemned a Russia drone strike<\/a>\u00a0that killed nine people in Kyiv and insisted he was ‘not happy’ with the action.<\/p>\n

The attack in question killed at least nine people and injured 90, making it the deadliest assault on the Ukrainian capital since last July.<\/p>\n

Taking to his\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0platform, Truth Social, he posted: “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”<\/p>\n

It’s reported that Trump and Zelenskyy have made an agreement to hold more talks following the service for Pope Francis.<\/p>\n

Today (April 26), the funeral proceedings of the Pope have commenced, with hundreds of thousands flocking to St Peter’s Square in Vatican City, including\u00a0world<\/a>\u00a0leaders such as President of France Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of the UK Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n

The service had only recently started when Trump was\u00a0criticised for his lack of ‘respect’<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump arrived alongside wife Melania, joining the likes of Starmer, Zelenskyy and also Prince William for the proceedings.<\/p>\n

He’s since been slammed on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0for showing up wearing not a black, but a blue suit<\/p>\n

One\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0user wrote: “Trump the only world leader without the respect to wear black at Pope Francis funeral. He\u2019s a disgrace to America and the world. God bless Pope Francis.”<\/p>\n

“What is it with Trump that he did not even have the decency to wear a black tie, never mind he wore a blue suit,” a second commented.<\/p>\n

Prior to leaving Washington yesterday, Trump said of Francis: “[He] loved the world, actually, and he was just a good man. I thought he was a fantastic kind of a guy.”<\/p>\n

However, he then went on to discuss how the funeral would also see him able to ‘meet with a lot’ of other world leaders.<\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0MSNBC: “It’s going to be very interesting. We’re going to meet with a lot of the foreign leaders, they want to meet.<\/p>\n

“Trade deals are going very well. I think Russia and Ukraine, I think they are coming along, we hope, very fragile.<\/p>\n

“And Iran I think is going very well. We’ll see what happens. We’re working on plenty of things.”<\/p>\n
