The cost to live has us all in shambles right now, so we know exactly how much our food is costing us, but apparently, the President has other ideas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0has been caught allegedly \u2018lying\u2019 about the true cost of gas and eggs in a strange moment caught on camera.<\/p>\n

Now, you\u2019ll know that if you go to Walmart and grab a gallon of full fat milk, it\u2019s going to set you back just under four dollars.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a price we all know about as we buy\u00a0milk<\/a>\u00a0often.<\/p>\n

As for gas, it\u2019s also a couple of dollars per gallon, at the cheapest price.<\/p>\n

So, why are people so shocked at what Trump has said?<\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s because he was way off base.<\/p>\n

In a clip shared online to\u00a0X<\/a>, he can be seen calling a journalist \u2018fake\u2019 after she asked him about the cost of living and claimed that\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0citizens are seeing their grocery and gas bills increase.<\/p>\n

Trump went on to say that gas prices in several states were \u2018way down\u2019 and the price had even dropped to \u2018$1.98\u2019 per gallon.<\/p>\n

But that is just not true.<\/p>\n

One person online said: \u201cHe’s on crack? I just went grocery shopping.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another wrote: \u201cI want to know where this 1.98 gas is i just\u00a0paid<\/a>\u00a03.15 today.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also stated: \u201cBefore I got here\u2026the press, the fake news like you, the fake news is screaming at me, like about eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe price of groceries are substantially down,\u201d he said. \u201cThe price of eggs. You know, when I came in, [the press] hit me with eggs. I just got there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThey said, you won\u2019t have eggs for Easter, which is coming up. Happy Easter, everybody. And now eggs are all over the place, and the price went down 92% and our Commissioner of Agriculture, Brooke [Rollins], has done a fantastic job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Claiming that gas, groceries and oil have all dropped in price \u2018substantially\u2019, this caused viewers online to hit back.<\/p>\n

As of Thursday April 17, the average price of gasoline nationwide was $3.17 at the pump.<\/p>\n

They wrote: \u201cNo state had an average gas price even close to $1.98 per gallon [as of} Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, the national average was about $3.17 per gallon, according to AAA data, as per CNN\u2019s chief fact-checker Daniel Dale.<\/p>\n

To this, even CNN\u2019s Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins posted on X and fact-checked the figures given by the president.<\/p>\n

White House spokesperson Harrison Fields chastised reporters to get out of their \u2018big city bubble\u2019 and to look at \u2018Middle America\u2019 if they want to see under $2 gas prices, however\u2026 the prices still do not match.<\/p>\n

Even GasBuddy, a company that tracks prices of gas stations around found no stations selling gas for under $2.<\/p>\n

A dozen eggs come to $3.13 on average, which is down from $8 in early March last year, according to tradingeconomincs.com.<\/p>\n

The day Trump took office, Grade A eggs were $5.81 a dozen, and just last month they were up to a record high of $6.23 a dozen, as per the Consumer Price Index reported April 10.<\/p>\n
