The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has now ordered one million people to leave the country ‘immediately’ or face being landed with a major punishment.<\/p>\n

The administration of Trump, who on his January inauguration\u00a0announced plans to embark on the ‘largest deportation programme in history’<\/a>\u00a0vowing to deport ‘maybe as many as 20 million’ people, has now terminated temporary legal statuses for those who legally entered the country through the\u00a0CBP One app<\/a>, which was first introduced under former president\u00a0Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0smartphone<\/a>\u00a0app, which was used by approximately 985,000 people seeking legal entry into the country, saw such individuals generally allowed to remain in the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0for two years with authorisation to work under a presidential authority called parole.<\/p>\n

However, that’s all changed now with a message to CBP One applicants now reading: “It is time for you to leave the United States.<\/p>\n

The message continues to warn: “Again, DHS is terminating your parole. Do not attempt to remain in the United States – the federal government will find you.<\/p>\n

“Please depart the United States immediately.”<\/p>\n

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has stated that those who have received the message could face some pretty major ‘consequences’ if they do not leave on their own accord.<\/p>\n

Those who are in the US illegally and refuse to leave will be charged nearly\u00a0$1,000<\/a>\u00a0per day until they go with a spokesperson stating: “If they don’t [leave], they will face the consequences.<\/p>\n

“This includes a fine of $998 per day for every day that the illegal alien overstayed their final deportation order.”<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0post uploaded late last month (31 March), the DHS outlined a number of ‘consequences’ if such individuals do not ‘self-deport’.<\/p>\n

“A fine of $1,000 – $5,000 if you fail to self-deport after claiming that you will,” the organisation threatened.<\/p>\n
