At least 12 people have been killed following a plane crash off the coast of the Central American nation Honduras.<\/p>\n

The Jetstream 32 aircraft, which was operated by Honduran airline Lanhsa, crashed into the sea within a minute of taking off from the island of Roat\u00e1n, the BBC\u00a0reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In separate statements following the accident, the local\u00a0police<\/a>\u00a0and fire department confirmed that five people had been rescued, with one person still being unaccounted for.<\/p>\n

It is believed that at least 12 people were killed in the crash.<\/p>\n

Roat\u00e1n’s mayor informed local media that the crash was not caused by the weather, with the cause remaining unknown at the time. Meanwhile, the Honduran Civil Aeronautics Agency have confirmed that an investigation is taking place.<\/p>\n
