A ‘boomer’ man has been branded a ‘walking green flag’ for his reaction to being approached by a street interviewer with a series of questions about periods.<\/p>\n

Periods<\/a>\u00a0are simply a fact of\u00a0life<\/a>\u00a0with around half the population experiencing them every single month.<\/p>\n

However, despite this, it’s clear there is still a\u00a0total<\/em>\u00a0lack of understanding surrounding the topic with many people – seemingly especially blokes – not knowing much about the ‘basic’\u00a0scientific\u00a0<\/a>anatomy behind the process.<\/p>\n

Nadya Okamoto<\/a>, co-founder of August period products and PERIOD. which is a global, youth-powered non-profit fighting\u00a0period poverty<\/a>\u00a0and stigma, took to Instagram last month (5 February) to share a clip from a street interview where she asked a man: “Do pee and period blood come out of the same hole?”<\/p>\n

“Absolutely not,” the man replied before explaining that urine came out of the urethra while blood comes out of the vagina.<\/p>\n

“Most guys we talked to don’t know that,” Nadya continued while the man asked: “Are you serious?!”<\/p>\n

Nadya then asked: “How often should you be changing a tampon?” to which the man responded: “Obviously, it depends on the flow. But average, three hours, four hours.”<\/p>\n

The man’s knowledge on periods and female anatomy in general seem to have gone down a treat on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0with one\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0user writing: “Ok boomer, I’m impressed.”<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s so good to see boomer men slowly warming up to the period talk,” praised a second, while a third chimed in: “HE GETS AN A!”<\/p>\n

A fourth quipped: “I hope this man raised a legion of sons.”<\/p>\n

“I wish more men understood how hot it is when they intimately know about the female body rather than just sexualising it,” put forward a fifth before sharing: “I went out with someone who knew what\u00a0PMDD<\/a>\u00a0was, and I instantly felt safer, more comfortable, and happier.”<\/p>\n

Another noted: “I never could get how men could claim to be attracted to women and then get so uncomfortable when the topic of basic female anatomy comes up.”<\/p>\n

And a final Instagram user made the very important point that while it’s great to see men, especially older men, make the effort to understand ‘basic female anatomy’ – it should be the ‘bare minimum’ rather than cause for an avalanche of congratulations.<\/p>\n

“No hate at all to this man, good on him for knowing all of this. But I hope all women know that this is the bare minimum. All men should know this,” they urged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
