(The Hill<\/a>) \u2014 President Donald Trump again floated the idea of running for a third term during a St. Patrick\u2019s Day event Wednesday, saying he looked forward to celebrating with the Irish prime minister \u201cat least three more times.\u201d<\/p>\n The remark came during the annual \u201cFriends of Ireland\u201d gathering during which Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) hosted Trump, Irish leader Miche\u00e1l Martin \u2014\u00a0known as the taoiseach \u2014\u00a0and other lawmakers for a luncheon at the Capitol.<\/p>\n \u201cTaoiseach, I want to just thank you once again for being here, it\u2019s an honor, and hopefully we\u2019re gonna be doing this at least three more times, OK? We\u2019re gonna be doing this three more times, at least,\u201d Trump said. Martin will be taoiseach\u00a0until 2028<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I say \u2018at least,\u2019 they go absolutely crazy,\u201d Trump added, referring to the press, which elicited laughs in the room. \u201cSo thank you very much for being here.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump has spoken about running for a third term on a number of occasions, including last month when he asked a crowd at the White House, \u201cShould I run again? You tell me.\u201d And after his election victory in November, he floated the idea during a gathering with House Republicans.<\/p>\n The idea has gained steam in some circles, despite it being unconstitutional. The 22nd Amendment limits individuals to two presidential terms.<\/p>\n
