US Vice President JD Vance’s relative has criticised him over his argument with Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the infamous televised scene at the Oval Office.<\/p>\n

The comments come after\u00a0President Donald Trump halted aid to Ukraine<\/a>\u00a0following his fallout with President Zelenskyy last month, where he was joined by JD Vance.<\/p>\n

During the talks,\u00a0Trump<\/a>\u00a0and Zelenskyy\u00a0got into an argument during a heated meeting<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0Oval Office<\/a>\u00a0as the\u00a0world leaders<\/a>\u00a0were meeting to discuss a potential minerals deal, as well as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Trump told Zelenskyy he’s ‘gambling with WW3’.<\/p>\n

Vance and Zelenskyy became heated in their talks, where Vance described the President as being disrespectful to the US.<\/p>\n

“In this entire meeting, have you said thank you?” Vance demanded. “You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October, offer some words of appreciation for the United States of America and the president who’s trying to save your country.”<\/p>\n

“People are dying \u2026 you’re running low on soldiers,” Trump continued.<\/p>\n

In the end,\u00a0Zelenskyy left The White House early<\/a>, and cancelled a planned press conference, before he flew to\u00a0the UK<\/a>\u00a0where he had meetings with prime minister\u00a0Keir Starmer<\/a>\u00a0followed by a summit with European leaders.<\/p>\n

After much backlash from the media and public following the argument, Vance\u2019s own cousin has criticised him and the President for \u2018belittling\u2019 Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

“There’s a certain level of decorum that I expect from political leaders, especially in front of cameras,” Nate Vance told the BBC.<\/p>\n

Nate has spent three years volunteering with the Ukrainian military after Russia invaded and shared that he was \u2018not happy\u2019 with the way the White House meeting was handled.<\/p>\n

He explained: “I’m kind of attached to the Ukrainian issue but, looking at that, if it were some other completely neutral issue and I saw White House officials and hack journalists that are political belittling a foreign leader, I’d be like ‘what the hell is going on?'”<\/p>\n

He went on to say that he disagrees with Vance’s claims that Zelenskyy was \u2018disrespectful\u2019 for \u2018litigating\u2019 the dispute in front of the media.<\/p>\n

He also doesn\u2019t believe that Zelenskyy has failed to show appreciation for the US\u2019s efforts during the invasion.<\/p>\n

Nate said: “Zelensky does a daily or nightly address and thanks everyone who supports Ukraine on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n

He lamented that maybe the leader had not shown \u2018enough deference to Donald Trump\u2019, but said it would be \u2018odd for my cousin and Donald Trump to ask for deference because they’ve been actively working against his initiatives for the past three years\u2019.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Le Figaro, he went on to say that his cousin was a \u2018good guy, intelligent\u2019 but that the meeting with Zelenskyy was \u2018an ambush of absolute bad faith\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump said that he was \u2018doing very well with Russia\u2019 and that it was \u2018more difficult, frankly, to deal with Ukraine\u2019.<\/p>\n
