Last night (2 February) saw the Dolby Theater host the 97th Academy Awards as Hollywood’s elite celebrated the last 12 months in\u00a0film<\/a>.<\/p>\n The evening’s biggest winner was\u00a0Anora<\/em>, which scooped up an impressive five\u00a0Oscars<\/a>\u00a0– Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role for star, Mikey Madison.<\/p>\n Other big winners included\u00a0The Brutalist\u00a0<\/em>with three awards, and\u00a0Dune: Part Two, Emilia P\u00e9rez\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Wicked<\/em><\/a>\u00a0with two awards each.<\/p>\n While\u00a0A Complete Unknown’s\u00a0<\/em>Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>\u00a0ultimately lost out to\u00a0The Brutalist’s\u00a0<\/em>Adrien Brody<\/a>\u00a0for Best Lead Actor, the 29-year-old still had a pretty eventful night, including a bizarre interaction with Adam Sandler during the ceremony.<\/p>\n Early in the evening, host Conan O’Brien ribbed Sandler over his casual outfit – the actor donned a bright blue hoodie and gym shorts that stuck out like a sore thumb among his formally dressed fellow celebrities.<\/p>\n “You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 AM, Adam,” O’Brien quipped, before Sandler insisted: “You know what, I like the way I look, because I’m a good person.<\/p>\n “I don’t care about what I wear or what I don’t wear. If my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers, I’m going.”<\/p>\n Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet got caught up in a bizarre interaction with Adam Sandler at last night’s Oscars (ABC)<\/cite><\/div>\n Sandler then proceeded to leave the theater, but not before pausing by Chalamet’s seat, screaming: “And one more thing, Chalamet,” and hugging the\u00a0Dune\u00a0<\/em>actor.<\/p>\n Now, lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman has revealed what he supposedly said back while shaking the 58-year-old’s hand.<\/p>\n “OK, OK, see you Pooh,” Chalamet reportedly said,\u00a0as per<\/a>\u00a0The Mirror.<\/p>\n The reason behind the supposed ‘Pooh’ nickname remains a mystery.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Chalamet’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner has been\u00a0slammed for her ‘entitled’ behaviour<\/a>\u00a0while being introduced to Elton John at last night’s event.<\/p>\n Chalamet and Kylie Jenner was joined by his girlfriend Kylie Jenner (John Shearer\/97th Oscars\/The Academy via Getty Images)<\/cite><\/div>\n Footage floating around on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0shows Chalamet and Sir Elton John both standing as they chatted before the young actor gave him a hug.<\/p>\n He then turned around to Jenner, who was sitting down, and introduced her to the legend.<\/p>\n Jenner then extended her arm before and shook John’s hand as he kissed it, while still remaining seated and people were not impressed.<\/p>\n “That is Sir Elton John, you stand when being greeted to him,” one person wrote on Instagram, while another said: “The entitlement is real!!”<\/p>\n Tyla has contacted Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet’s representatives for comment.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Late night host O\u2019Brien had jaws on the floor with several of his gags – after he\u2019d\u00a0graphically emerged from a nude Demi Moore\u2019s body\u00a0<\/a>in a skit referencing\u00a0The Substance.<\/em><\/p>\n In his opening monologue, he hit out at\u00a0Emilia Perez\u00a0<\/em>star Karla Sof\u00eda Gasc\u00f3n, whose controversial tweets were widely believed to have torpedoed her awards chances.<\/p>\n He quipped: \u201cAnora<\/em>\u00a0uses the \u2018F-word\u2019 479 times – that\u2019s three more than the record set by Karla Sof\u00eda Gasc\u00f3n\u2019s publicist.\u201d<\/p>\n In\u00a0a later dig on Trump<\/a>\u2019s disastrous meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he said: \u201cAnora’<\/em>s doing great tonight. Two awards. I think Americans are finally ready for someone to stand up to a powerful Russian.\u201d<\/p>\n For context,\u00a0Anora\u00a0<\/em>sees a stripper face off with a Russian oligarch and his wife after a shotgun wedding with his son.<\/p>\n Most controversially,\u00a0O\u2019Brien said around the halfway point<\/a>: “Well, we’re halfway through the show, which means it’s time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile.”<\/p>\n This, of course, a reference to Kendrick Lamar\u2019s Super Bowl halftime show, where he performed Drake diss track \u2018Not Like Us\u2019.<\/p>\n Culkin took home the first award of the night, winning Best Supporting Actor for\u00a0A Real Pain.<\/em>\u00a0This\u00a0apparently means his wife Jazz owes him two more children<\/a>.<\/p>\n He said in his acceptance speech: “About a year ago, I was on a stage like this and I very stupidly, publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award she would give me the kid.<\/p>\n \u201cTurns out she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win.”<\/p>\n He then said she\u2019d promised him four if he won an Oscar, before adding \u2018let’s get cracking on those kids\u2019.<\/p>\n He also dropped the first f-bomb of the night, calling fellow nominee Jeremy Strong \u2018f**king great\u2019.<\/p>\n Freeman was on hand to introduce the In Memoriam segment, and delivered\u00a0an emotional tribute to Gene Hackman<\/a>, who\u00a0was found dead in his home<\/a>\u00a0alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa and his dog last week.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cThis week, our community lost a giant and I lost a dear friend.<\/p>\n \u201cLike everyone who ever shared a scene with him I learned he was a generous performer and a man whose gifts elevated everyone’s work<\/p>\n \u201cHe received two Oscars but more importantly he won the hearts of film-lovers all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n He says Hackman once told him: “I don’t think about legacy, I just hope people remember me as someone who tried to do good work.”<\/p>\n Freeman added: “Gene, you’ll be remembered for that and so much more.
