San Francisco 49ers<\/a>\u00a0general manager John Lynch essentially confirmed that the\u00a0Deebo Samuel<\/a>\u00a0era is over on the West Coast.<\/p>\n Before Super Bowl 59, it was reported that the 49ers gave Deebo Samuel and his agent permission to speak with other teams about a possible trade. The 29-year-old is heading into the last season of a three-year extension he signed in 2022.<\/p>\n Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Lynch told reporters at the\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0Combine that the 49ers\u00a0plan to give<\/a>\u00a0the 2021 All-Pro wideout \u201ca fresh start\u201d in 2025:<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, still not interested (referencing his previous comment about not letting quality players go). But along those lines of the financial constraints, and some conversations we\u2019ve had with Deebo \u2014 it\u2019s something that we\u2019ve been forthright with that. We\u2019re on good terms with Deebo. He\u2019s asked for a fresh start and I think we\u2019re going to honor that.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t like seeing great players \u2014 and he is a great player, I think often one of my favorite draft picks in my time. He makes plays. He makes game-changing plays. Everything\u2019s good. But at some point, time happens and he asked for that, we don\u2019t always \u2014 there\u2019s contracts and things. But it probably makes sense, so we\u2019re at least allowing him to look.
