\u201cThe View\u2019s\u201d Whoopi Goldberg slammed the notion that she has to learn to talk to President Trump\u2019s voters, who she claimed \u201csupport people who think you don\u2019t matter in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg\u2019s rejection came during a heated exchange with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former senior adviser to Trump during his first term in 2020, who said on Monday\u2019s show that those resisting the president \u201chave to be able to talk\u201d to the other side in order \u201cto find areas of agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Griffin, who resigned from the first Trump administration after the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, and went on to support former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, added that she agreed with many of the president\u2019s positions \u2014 including parts of Project 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats have to be willing to go to uncomfortable spaces,\u201d Griffin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is beyond Democrats and Republicans,\u201d Goldberg shot back.<\/p>\n

Griffin said she doesn\u2019t agree 100% with everything the president does but Trump detractors should try to talk to the other side to find middle ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hard to talk to people who support people who think you don\u2019t matter in the country,\u201d Goldberg replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s not supporting that person,\u201d Griffin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no! No no! But when you support that person, it brings\u2013,\u201d Goldberg said, before being cut off by Griffin, who echoed her point.<\/p>\n

Goldberg agreed that finding middle ground was important but not when the president\u2019s decisions are \u201cdisagreeable to the majority.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, I didn\u2019t find anything of interest for me in Project 2025, I didn\u2019t feel like this was geared to us as a nation,\u201d she said. \u201cI felt it was geared to very specific folks and that that bothered the poo out of me. But I understand what you\u2019re saying. And yeah, we do have to talk to each other. That\u2019s the beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since Trump won the election in November, anti-Trump \u201cView\u201d hosts have found themselves walking a tightrope on how to talk about the president.<\/p>\n

The anti-Trump co-hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d have found themselves in hot water over statements made about the Trump administration in recent months.The View\/ABC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In November, the co-hosts of the\u00a0controversial ABC talk show were forced to issue four \u201clegal notes\u201d<\/a>\u00a0or disclaimers during a broadcast while discussing allegations leveled at several of Trump\u2019s cabinet nominees.<\/p>\n

The show \u2014 and its network \u2014 have been on high alert since owner Disney settled a defamation lawsuit with Trump in December over on-air remarks made by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit stemmed from\u00a0Stephanopoulos\u2019 on-air statements<\/a>\u00a0inaccurately asserting that a jury had found Trump liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll; in reality, the jury found him liable for sexual abuse, not rape, under New York law.<\/p>\n

As part of the settlement, Disney paid $15 million to Trump\u2019s presidential library and an additional $1 million to cover his legal fees. Stephanopoulos also issued a public apology expressing regret for the erroneous remarks.<\/p>\n
