Ryan Reynolds has sparked controversy by alluding to wife Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni whilst making a joke on\u00a0Saturday Night Live.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fans of the\u00a0Deadpool<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>actor have been left divided by his latest comment, with many claiming the time and context of his latest attempt at humour were not appropriate.<\/p>\n

For those in need of a reminder, back in December, 37-year-old\u00a0Blake Lively<\/a>\u00a0filed a legal complaint against her\u00a0It Ends With Us\u00a0<\/em>co-star and on-screen love interest,\u00a0Justin Baldoni.<\/a><\/p>\n

In the suit, the\u00a0Gossip Girl\u00a0<\/em>alum alleges that her cast-mate exhibited\u00a0overly-sexualised behaviour<\/a>\u00a0towards her whilst on the set of the Coleen Hoover novel adaptation, and that Baldoni later\u00a0orchestrated a smear campaign against her.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lively filed a complaint about her co-star in December (Jose Perez\/Bauer-Griffin\/GC Images)<\/cite><\/div>\n

Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds was also named in the complaint several times, with the actress claiming 40-year-old Baldoni would often make references and inquisitions about\u00a0their\u00a0<\/em>sex life.<\/a><\/p>\n

Baldoni vehemently denied all allegations, and has since\u00a0sued Lively<\/a>\u00a0himself for defamation and extortion.<\/p>\n

Just last week, he also made the decision to\u00a0release a series of text messages between himself and Reynolds<\/a>, claiming the pair enjoyed an amicable relationship – even after Lively had\u00a0made a list of demands about intimacy protocol on set.<\/a><\/p>\n

So naturally, followers of the Hollywood legal battle were surprised to hear father-of-four Reynolds, 48, seemingly making a joke about it during an appearance on the 50th anniversary edition of\u00a0Saturday Night Live\u00a0<\/em>this week.\u00a0Take a look:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the clip – which has since gone viral online – the actor could be seen sitting in the audience alongside Lively, when hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey give the couple a shout out.<\/p>\n

As he stands, the comedians exclaim: “Oh, hi, Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds, how is it going?”<\/p>\n

He then timidly replies: “Great… why? What have you heard?”<\/p>\n

Lively then looks up at him shocked, seemingly confirming the remark was a jibe alluding to recent circumstances.<\/p>\n

As we say, however, the fact that the legal dispute harnesses on sensitive subject matter\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>is still ongoing has meant that Reynolds’ latest joke hasn’t gone down too well with many.<\/p>\n

Sharing their thoughts about the interaction online, one\u00a0SNL\u00a0<\/em>viewer hit out: “The audacity of them to show up”.<\/p>\n

“Also Kinda irritating he\u2019s making a joke of it,” another wrote. “Like I understand, make fun of it before someone else does. But she made a serious SA accusation, it\u2019s not funny.”<\/p>\n

A third penned: “PR stunt and power move. Showing JB their clout and reach and nonchalance over the whole fiasco by joking about it.”<\/p>\n

Others, however, saw the comedy in Reynolds’ latest TV gig.<\/p>\n
