As\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u00a0celebrates its 50th anniversary with a special, three-hour-long extravaganza, fans will have noticed that someone special is missing from its line-up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNL<\/em><\/a>\u00a0has been keeping the\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0and beyond entertained since it began in 1975.<\/p>\n

The hit NBC sketch show is celebrating with a dazzling line-up of\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0hosts and guests new and old – only a few favorites are missing, including Stefon Meyers star Bill Hader.<\/p>\n

The star’s eight-year run on the\u00a0show<\/a>\u00a0earned him an impressive four Primetime Emmy Award nominations.<\/p>\n

But he’s not on\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0tonight (February 16) and previously revealed he had a pretty rough ride on the beloved program.<\/p>\n

Why isn’t Bill Hader on\u00a0SNL<\/em>‘s 50th anniversary show?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hader’s last\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0episode aired in 2013, but fans were hoping the star would be confirmed for tonight’s special show.<\/p>\n

However, Hader’s publicist, Matt Labov,\u00a0previously confirmed to UNILAD that the star’s absence was due to a ‘longstanding schedule conflict<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n

The HBO\u00a0Barry<\/em>\u00a0actor left\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0in 2013 and previously revealed\u00a0to<\/a>\u00a0Variety\u00a0<\/em>he was ‘consumed with work and anxiety’.<\/p>\n

Hader said he didn’t feel comfortable with the show’s live element until five seasons in – and began suffering panic attacks both on and offstage.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, he left\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0after the birth of his and now ex-wife Maggie Carey’s second child.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce our second child was born, I had to leave\u00a0SNL<\/em>,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was hard with one kid, let alone two. Because I was just never around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why does Bill Hader no longer watch\u00a0SNL<\/em>?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hader also told the publication at the time he doesn’t watch his own\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0sketches back.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny time someone says things to me that I don\u2019t understand, I go, \u2018Did I say that on\u00a0SNL<\/em>?\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never saw any of the stuff I did. I think a nanny showed my kids Stefon, or the Californians or something.<\/p>\n

“They came in and were like, \u2018Dad, look at this.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Oh, yeah. There I am.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
