Fans have a new theory about what Kendrick Lamar was trying to say with his ‘a’ chain at the Super Bowl.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While we witnessed an impressive display by the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>\u00a0on the field in New Orleans, a lot of chatter was surrounding Lamar’s halftime show.<\/p>\n

During the performance, Lamar performed his track ‘Not Like Us’ – the same Grammy-winning track that has caused controversy due to brutal references to fellow rapper\u00a0Drake<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the release of the track,\u00a0Drake sued Universal Music Group (UMG)<\/a>, which represents both Drake and Lamar, on defamatory offences.<\/p>\n

In one line of the track,\u00a0Lamar<\/a>\u00a0makes reference to Drake’s 2021 album as he says: “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile.”<\/p>\n

The\u00a0rapper<\/a>\u00a0is not directly named in the lawsuit, but the filing accuses Universal of choosing ‘corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists’ by releasing the track.<\/p>\n

The ‘A’ chain seen during Lamar’s\u00a0Super Bowl<\/a>\u00a0performance had a\u00a0brutal ‘hidden’ meaning according to fans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans believe Lamar’s massive ‘A’ chain referenced ‘a minor’, which is a direct lyric in his diss track aimed at Drake: “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.”<\/p>\n

“Rewatched the performance and just realized Kendrick\u2019s necklace\u2026\u2026is in the shape of the chord a minor, this man is a f****** genius, I can\u2019t,” one fan penned on Twitter.<\/p>\n

“Kendrick getting the entire Super Bowl screaming ‘a minor’ with Serena Williams dancing has to feel like a shot gun blast to Drake\u2019s chest,” a second added.<\/p>\n

However, it appears that is just speculation, with a more reputable theory now being discussed online.<\/p>\n

Complex Style penned on Instagram: “Kendrick Lamar\u2019s #Superbowl chain, that had the whole internet talking, was designed by @eliantte!<\/p>\n

“While some speculate it\u2019s Kendrick being petty, the \u2018a\u2019 pendant actually represents the \u2018a\u2019 logo from @pglang.”<\/p>\n

The creative services company that specializes in music and technology was in fact founded by Lamar and record producer Dave Free.<\/p>\n

Following the massive talking points that unfolded as a result of the Super Bowl performance,\u00a0Drake’s team shared a new statement on the case<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They said: “UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely \u2018entertainment,\u2019 but there is nothing entertaining about pedophilia or child abuse in the real world.<\/p>\n

“We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial\u2014including information we\u2019ve already learned and continue to receive since filing the lawsuit\u2014will expose UMG\u2019s gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists\u2019 well-being and the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, UMG stated ‘these claims [are] untrue’ in a statement provided to\u00a0The Independent<\/a>.<\/p>\n
