Donald Jigsaw Trump is running this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related: Stephen Colbert on Trump\u2019s first two weeks: \u2018Like a chimp with a chainsaw\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, one of the big questions besides \u2018are you out of your damn mind?\u2019 is: if you pull out of the Palestinians out of Palestine, who would then live there?\u201d he continued. Trump\u2019s answer: \u201cI envision a world of people living there. The world\u2019s people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world\u2019s people. Maybe the Village People, I don\u2019t know,\u201d Kimmel laughed. \u201cYou can see he\u2019s really thought this through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery idea is worse than the last idea,\u201d he added. \u201cHe seems to believe that there\u2019s a conflict in Gaza because no one thought to give them a pickleball court. No matter what the crisis may be, everything always comes back to real estate with him.\u201d Trump even went as far as branding the idea as \u201cthe Riviera of the Middle East\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump didn\u2019t even have success with the Atlantic City of New Jersey, never mind the \u2018Riviera of the Middle East\u2019,\u201d Kimmel quipped. At least, he added: \u201cit\u2019s never going to happen\u201d in no small part because \u201cthe only thing that the United Nations and the Taliban have in common is they both think this is a terrible idea\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Colbert<br \/>\nWith Trump\u2019s nascent presidency: \u201cday after day, it is exactly what you thought but worse than you could\u2019ve imagined\u201d, said Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. \u201cThe crazy is coming fast and furious, and the furious is coming crazy and fast. He and his tech bro shock troops are violating so many laws and norms that it\u2019s hard to know when something outrageous that he says or does is an atrocity or just a shiny distraction. Or maybe a shiny atrocity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such as yesterday, when Trump declared that the US would take over the Gaza Strip. \u201cGreat idea. All these years, I don\u2019t know why no one else thought to call shotgun on the Holy Land,\u201d Colbert deadpanned. \u201cAnd once we \u2013 and he\u2019s not clear on who \u2018we\u2019 is \u2013 own it, you\u2019ll never guess what this luxury real estate developer wants to do with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, the \u2018Riviera of the Middle East\u2019,\u201d Colbert joked. \u201cThe Canc\u00fan of Crises. The Sandals of Sadness. The Carnival Cruise of War Crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, you might be asking: what about the Palestinians who live there?\u201d he continued. \u201cDon\u2019t worry. Or do, if you have a shred of humanity, because Trump does not.\u201d When asked how many Palestinians would have to be displaced for his luxury real estate development, Trump answered: \u201cAll of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re going to forcibly relocate almost 2 million people, half of whom are children?\u201d Colbert fumed. \u201cHow many of our moral principles would America have to violate to support this?\u201d To quote Trump, as Colbert did: all of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo after the new and improved Trail of Tears, who is going to live in these haunted honeymoon suites?\u201d Colbert continued. According to Trump, \u201cI envision a world of people living there. The world\u2019s people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world\u2019s people? Is he confusing Gaza with Epcot?\u201d Colbert quipped.<\/p>\n<p>Seth Meyers<br \/>\nAnd on Late Night, Seth Meyers examined how Trump\u2019s Gaza proposal undercuts his years of \u201cAmerica First\u201d isolationist promises. \u201cNow Trump has apparently done some thinking and decided that actually, the problem with George W Bush is that he didn\u2019t do enough nation-building in the Middle East,\u201d he joked. \u201cSo now Trump has an unhinged and obviously illegal plan to go even further in a part of the world where we will definitely be welcome with open arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The furor over Trump\u2019s surprise idea represents \u201cthe same old trap we\u2019re always in\u201d, said Meyers, \u201cof not knowing if this is a real idea or just Trump distracting us while Casper the very unfriendly ghost\u201d \u2013 Elon Musk \u2013 \u201cdismantles the federal government\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, for his part, is insisting it\u2019s a serious proposal. \u201cI think it\u2019s important to say: we should never have gotten to this point to begin with,\u201d Meyers noted. \u201cJoe Biden should\u2019ve demanded a ceasefire a long time ago. It\u2019s what the majority of voters wanted, and if there were any voters who were upset with Biden over that, it is his fault and not theirs. He could\u2019ve to appealed to those voters by ending US support for the war, instead of acting like a powerless bystander.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead, we\u2019re here, Meyers added, and the plan shows: \u201cTrump is a hypocrite and liar who contradicts himself. Everyone knows that.
