The \u201cView\u201d co-hosts supported Travis Kelce after he gave a \u201cdiplomatic\u201d reaction to President Donald Trump\u00a0attending the upcoming Super Bowl 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made headlines earlier this week when he\u00a0said it was a \u201cgreat honor\u201d<\/a>\u00a0that Trump will become the first sitting president to go to a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

The comment drew some criticism from fans, because Trump has previously\u00a0expressed \u201chate\u201d towards Kelce\u2019s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.<\/a><\/p>\n

The former political strategist pointed out that the \u201cpresidency is bigger than any one person\u201d and Kelce, 35, said he\u2019s \u201cproud that the president of the United States is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that it\u2019s any kind of statement about Donald Trump specifically,\u201d Griffin added. \u201cHe\u2019d say the same thing if it was Joe Biden, Obama, George Bush. I thought it was a very classy statement and don\u2019t make it a bigger story. It would\u2019ve totally distracted from the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sara Haines reminded viewers that the upcoming game\u00a0is a \u201chistorical moment\u201d for Kelce<\/a>\u00a0and his teammates, because they could become the first NFL team to win the Super Bowl three years in a row.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the biggest game [and] anything else he said would have made it about something else and not about them,\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n

Haines, 47, also added that Kelce expressed his \u201clove\u201d for the country \u2013\u2013 and not Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was essentially saying, \u2018I love this country,’\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n

Sunny Hostin chimed in to say that Kelce is \u201cvery protective\u201d over Swift and was thinking about the long-term effects.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was being a diplomat, and I think he did the right thing by not giving into this madness,\u201d Hostin, 56, said.<\/p>\n

Kelce told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday that it was \u201cawesome\u201d and a \u201cgreat honor\u201d to have Trump coming to the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I\u2019m excited because it\u2019s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it\u2019s the best country in the world. So, that\u2019d be pretty cool,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Trump \u2013\u2013 who\u2019s expected to attend alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem \u2013\u2013 will see Kelce and his teammates take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.<\/p>\n
