It sounds like\u00a0New England Patriots<\/a>\u00a0rookie quarterback Drake Maye will be on the sidelines to begin his\u00a0NFL<\/a>\u00a0career.<\/p>\n

The Patriots brought back Jacoby Brissett on a one-year deal in free agency and traded\u00a0Mac Jones<\/a>\u00a0to the Jacksonville Jaguars at the start of the new league year. Then with the No. 3 pick in the 2024\u00a0NFL Draft<\/a>, the Pats drafted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.<\/p>\n

In a surprise move, New England also used a sixth-round pick (193rd overall) on Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton. And according to a new report, it\u2019s actually Milton who\u2019s performed better among the rookie QBs in training camp.<\/p>\n

Ben Volin of the\u00a0Boston Globe<\/a><\/em>\u00a0reports that the North Carolina product \u201ccontinues to underwhelm while Joe Miton impresses.\u201d Volin states that Milton has been the better QB over New England\u2019s first six practice sessions with several \u201cwow\u201d plays:<\/p>\n

\u201cDrake Maye continues to underwhelm while Joe Milton impresses. I wrote after last Thursday\u2019s practice that Milton is the \u201cwow\u201d quarterback at camp \u2014 the guy with the best size, best athleticism, and biggest arm. Now I\u2019ll take it a step further: Milton outplayed Maye over the first six practices of camp\u2026<\/p>\n

Maye is running second on the depth chart and getting a ton of work, but he hasn\u2019t made many noteworthy throws. He was the only quarterback not to throw a touchdown pass in a red zone drill Tuesday, while Milton, in limited reps, threw touchdowns on consecutive plays, one on a drag to Polk and another on an RPO slant to JuJu Smith-Schuster.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Milton wows the crowd every day with his tantalizing arm and standing backflips. After Maye struggled in the red zone, Milton promptly came in and completed a nice pass to Kawaan Baker on the sideline.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
