It remains quite unbelievable that\u00a0Luka Doncic<\/a>\u00a0is no longer playing for the Dallas Mavericks and has headed west to play for the Lakers.<\/p>\n

A trade that went down so shocking had thousands thinking the reporter who delivered the news was hacked.<\/p>\n

Late Saturday night to early Sunday morning, the Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks received\u00a0Anthony Davis<\/a>, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick as part of the trade. Los Angeles received Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris.<\/p>\n

After he was traded to the\u00a0Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday, Doncic released a statement thanking the Dallas Mavericks and the team\u2019s fanbase for his tenure with the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I\u2019d spend my career here, and I wanted so badly to bring you a championship,\u201d Don\u010di\u0107 said in the statement posted on social media. \u201cThe love and support you all have given me is more than I could have ever dreamed of. For a young kid from Slovenia coming to the U.S. for the first time, you made North Texas feel like home.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Luka Doncic\u2019s future wife also had something to say.<\/p>\n

Doncic\u2019s model fiancee, Anamaria Goltes, took to her\u00a0Instagram story\u00a0<\/a>and wrote, \u201cThank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doncic landed with Dallas as part of a draft-day deal in 2018 after the Atlanta Hawks selected him third overall.<\/p>\n

He would reward the team by becoming one of the most accomplished players in the Association over his seven-and-a-half years with the Mavs.<\/p>\n

Before his trade, he had racked up five All-NBA nods, made five All-Star Games, won the 2019 Rookie of the Year, captured the 2023-24 scoring title, and led the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals.<\/p>\n
