Bey\u2019s day has finally come.<\/p>\n

After four previous Album of the Year nominations, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s\u00a0\u201cCowboy Carter\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 a groundbreaking, genre-bucking country collection \u2014\u00a0lassoed the top Grammy<\/a>\u00a0that had long eluded the pop superstar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just feel very full and very honored. It\u2019s been many, many years,\u201d she said in a victory speech that was a long time coming.<\/p>\n

Despite her staggering success on music\u2019s biggest night \u2014 she became the most-awarded artist in Grammy history in 2023 \u2014 Beyonc\u00e9\u00a0had never won the award that matters most<\/a>: Album of the Year. But after losses for \u201cI Am \u2026 Sasha Fierce\u201d in 2010, \u201cBeyonc\u00e9\u201d in 2015, \u201cLemonade\u201d in 2017 and \u201cRenaissance\u201d in 2023, she broke the streak on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9 brought her record Grammy haul to 35, including wins for Album of the Year and Best Country Album.CBS
\n<\/span><\/span>Her big victory comes one year after hubby Jay-Z\u00a0called the Grammys out<\/a>\u00a0about as he accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award last year: \u201cShe has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year.\u00a0 So even by your own metrics, that doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9 led the contenders with 11 nominations on Sunday night \u2014 the most ever by a female artist in a single year. And after setting another record with 99 nominations coming into\u00a0the 67th annual awards<\/a>, she added to her historic Grammy haul with three wins for \u201cCowboy Carter,\u201d bringing her total to 35.<\/p>\n

The other big winner was Kendrick Lamar, who took home five trophies \u2014 including Record and Song of the Year\u201d for \u201cNot Like Us\u201d \u2014 the week before he headlines the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Charli xcx picked up three awards for her \u201cBrat\u201d album, while\u00a0Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>\u00a0bagged two gramophones\u201d for her \u201cShort n\u2019 Sweet\u201d LP and Chappell Roan was crowned Best New Artist.<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift, though,\u00a0was shut out<\/a>\u00a0for \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the devastation caused by the LA wildfires last month, the Grammys \u2014 hosted for the fifth consecutive year by Trevor Noah \u2014 went on by adding fundraising to the festivities. And on a night where the healing power of music was the ultimate winner, here are some of the best \u2014 and worst \u2014 moments.<\/p>\n

WORST: Dawes<\/h2>\n

Dawes opened the show with backup from John Legend, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Brittany Howard and St. Vent.CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Grammys\u2019 heart was in the right place with having Dawes open the show with a cover of Randy Newman\u2019s \u201cI Love L.A.\u201d After all, both Goldsmith brothers \u2014 Taylor (who is married to Mandy Moore) and Griffin \u2014 suffered devastating losses during the wildfires.<\/p>\n

But even with the all-star backing of John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Brittany Howard, Brad Paisley and St. Vincent, this was an underwhelming opener. And given that Dawes weren\u2019t even nominated, it didn\u2019t feel like an honor they deserved.<\/p>\n

BEST: Billie Eilish<\/h2>\n

Eilish was the picture of breezy chill delivering her hit \u201cBirds of a Feather.\u201d But there was an emotional depth to go along with her low-key cool.<\/p>\n

It was performed against a backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains and Eaton Canyon in Altadena, near where Eilish and Finneas grew up in Los Angeles, and images of their childhood days playing in the foothills and trails of the canyon were interspersed throughout.<\/p>\n

Rocking an LA Dodgers hat, she turned the love song into a a love letter to LA. \u201cWe love you LA,\u201d she said at the end. It was just as touching in its own way as her performance of \u201cWhat Was I Made For?\u201d last year.<\/p>\n

BEST: Chappell Roan<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0Best New Artist winner<\/a>\u00a0took us to \u201cPink Pony Club\u201d with a high-hoofing performance complete with a giant carousel pony (pink, naturally), rodeo clowns and a memorable singalong. It was a surprise that Roan didn\u2019t do \u201cGood Luck, Babe!\u201d \u2014 since it was nominated for both Record and Song of the Year \u2014 but then again, the track about a gay bar in West Hollywood was her own way to pay tribute to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

BEST: Doechii<\/h2>\n

First, the rapper was fittingly awarded the Best Rap Album gramophone for \u201cAlligator Bites Never Heal\u201d by Cardi B \u2014 one of only two other women to ever win this category. And then she delivered a speech for the ages. Then Doechii returned to own the stage with a killer performance of \u201cCatfish\u201d and \u201cDenial Is a River.\u201d Even though she went on to lose for Best New Artist, the rapper arguably won the night.<\/p>\n

BEST: Tay presents Best Country Album to Bey<\/h2>\n

It was a moment gifted to us from the diva heavens when\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 flaunting a \u201cT\u201d chain around her upper thigh \u2014 presented Best Country Album to Beyonc\u00e9 for \u201cCowboy Carter.\u201d After Swift got her start in country music, it was a full-circle moment to give the award to the first black woman ever to win. And Bey, despite being the winningest artist in Grammy history,\u00a0looked genuinely shocked<\/a>\u00a0to hear her name called.<\/p>\n

WORST: Khruangbin<\/h2>\n

The Texan trio was lucky to get a spot as part of the\u00a0Best New Artist<\/a>\u00a0performances. But they paled next to all of the nominees, including Benson Boone, Raye, Teddy Swims and Shaboozey.<\/p>\n

BEST: Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars<\/h2>\n

Instead of performing their Grammy-winning duet \u201cDie with a Smile,\u201d\u00a0Gaga<\/a>\u00a0and Mars proved to be a powerhouse pairing again singing the Mamas & the Papas classic \u201cCalifornia Dreamin\u2019.\u201d Now this should\u2019ve been the performance to open the show in tribute to LA? At this point, we need a duets album from them.<\/p>\n

BEST\/WORST: The Quincy Jones tribute<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0tribute to the Grammy legend<\/a>, who passed away last year, was a mixed bag. Why exactly was Lainey Wilson a part of it? But Stevie Wonder, leading a singalong of \u201cWe Are the World,\u201d and Janelle Mon\u00e1e, channeling Michael Jackson on \u201cDon\u2019t Stop \u2019Til You Get Enough,\u201d did Q justice.<\/p>\n

WORST: The Weeknd<\/h2>\n

While it was good to see The Weeknd come back to the Grammys after his boycott, his surprise performance of new song \u201cCry for Me\u201d \u2014 from his just-released album \u201cHurry Up Tomorrow\u201d \u2014 felt unnecessary on a night where there were so many worthy nominated performances. It was just kinda meh. And the way he was shrouded throughout the entire thing, can we even be sure that it was him?<\/p>\n
