An Ohio college student was coming back from her grandfather\u2019s funeral in Kansas when she was killed in the catastrophic\u00a0Washington, DC, plane crash<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0leaving her family struck by grief twice in one week, a campus official said Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you imagine losing a parent and seven days later losing a child,\u201d Cedarville University president Thomas White said of student Grace Maxwell\u2019s heartbroken parent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want us to pray for the Maxwell family. I want us to lift them up,\u201d\u00a0he told<\/a>\u00a0students gathered at the campus chapel.<\/p>\n

Maxwell, 20, had just laid her grandfather, Charles Andrew Winter, to rest in her\u00a0hometown of Wichita Tuesday before boarding the ill-fated flight on her way back to campus in\u00a0southwestern Ohio Wednesday, her father, Dean Maxwell,\u00a0told the\u00a0The Wichita Eagle<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

He said authorities had yet to contact him about his daughter as of Friday. \u201cWe do know she was on the plane,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Maxwell was a junior at the small Baptist college, who studied mechanical engineering and planned to develop prosthetics, friends told\u00a0daytondailynews.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tearful friends called her \u201ca bright light\u201d who had \u201cbig ideas\u201d and was beloved in her dorm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had game nights every Sunday at 5 p.m., and she was always the first person there,\u201d friend Riley Blair told the outlet.\u00a0\u201cShe could just play games with us for hours if we let her. She loved it so much, and that\u2019s one of my favorite memories of her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maxwell was also part of the school radio station and creative\u00a0writing club.<\/p>\n
