Donald Trump has been branded historically unpopular despite being elected as president by US voters just months earlier.<\/p>\n

It’s safe to say that\u00a0Trump<\/a>\u00a0has had an interesting 11 days since being\u00a0sworn into office<\/a>\u00a0on January 20.<\/p>\n

When the\u00a0US election<\/a>\u00a0results were announced in November 2024, it was claimed that Trump had won the ‘popular’ vote among the people of America.<\/p>\n

He historically won places where Republicans usually do well, and also places where Democrats generally have an edge.<\/p>\n

But just months after the election, it seems as though Trump isn’t quite as popular as he was made out to be – and he’s broken a record for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

A new poll, released by Gallup, reported that the president’s initial approval ratings are actually at an all-time low.<\/p>\n

Megan Brenan, a senior editor who worked on the research, said: “At 47%, President Donald Trump\u2019s initial job approval rating for his second term is similar to the inaugural 45% reading during his first term, again placing him below all other elected presidents dating back to 1953.”<\/p>\n

Breaking records, she added: “Trump remains the only elected president with sub-50% initial approval ratings, and his latest disapproval rating (48%) is three percentage points higher than in 2017.”<\/p>\n

According to the study, John F Kennedy was, and remains, the most popular modern president at the start of his term.<\/p>\n

Followed by this is Dwight Eisenhower (1953) and Barack Obama (2009), who scored 68% – the next-highest approval ratings.<\/p>\n

But it seems as though Trump is an anomaly, as Brenan said: “Most presidents have experienced a \u2018honeymoon period\u2019, with strong job approval ratings in the initial months of their presidencies that then fade as time passes.”<\/p>\n

Interestingly, she added: “Initial evaluations of Trump differ [from other presidents] in that Americans are much more likely to disapprove of his performance rather than have no opinion.”<\/p>\n

However, other research has suggested that Trump has slightly higher approval ratings.<\/p>\n

Many celebrities have been open about\u00a0moving from the US<\/a>\u00a0since Trump was elected.<\/p>\n

Eva Longoria was one of the first to share that she has left the US, as she now splits her time between Spain and Mexico.<\/p>\n

The actress told Marie Claire of Trump\u2019s plans: \u201cIf he keeps his promises, it\u2019s going to be a scary place.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m privileged,\u201d she added. \u201cI get to escape and go somewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost Americans aren\u2019t so lucky. They\u2019re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have also moved away from America.<\/p>\n

The former talk show host has now moved to the UK<\/a>\u00a0with her partner, vowing that they will \u2018never return\u2019 since Trump\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

An anonymous source close to the couple told The Wrap that the pair are living in the\u00a0Cotswolds<\/a>\u00a0and have no intention of heading back to America, particularly not while Trump remains in charge.<\/p>\n
